hi guys i recently bought a nikon speedlight sb-600 but i wanna try a wireless flash trigger which comes with a base so i can screw it to a tripod but dont wanna pay the earth i know you get what you pay for but i dont wanna
spend loads of money if im not gonna use it much
looked on ebay but im unsure

You can trigger your SB-600 using the onboard flash on your D80, so that would be free ;)
 
the PT-04's off ebay are pretty good if you just want wireless sync. They are around £15
 
Start with your D80 and SB-600 manuals and the wee booklet that came with the SB-600 and then have a google for Nikon Creative Lighting System (CLS) for some more info.

I don't use CLS myself, but plenty here do, so I'm sure someone will be able to give you tips on how best to use it :)
