I hae been thinking for some time about firing off 2 cameras at the same time. In my head I have the idea of photographing birds from two different angles as in say drinking from a bird bath or feed table. Shooting with just one camera the shutter noise could easily scare them off.

as I already have a Phottix WXD-188 trigger and receiver I have been on the hunt for another receiver for some time. Couple of problems I have come up against is either sellers are selling both or for a different makes than Nikon or asking sky high prices for obsolete kit. well At last yesterday I found exactly what I was looking for, a company selling just the receiver at a decent price . OK it has to be shipped over from the USA and may take a couple of weeks to arrive but I can wait.

now will come the fun part which is what I think photography should be about

with the above and wireless radio flash trigger an 2 receivers the combo available should be interesting range of about 100mtr

Two cameras fired remotely with a camera flash working on one and two remote flashguns triggered via flash trigger (on other camera) and two receivers on remote flashguns.

STUPID? CERTAINLY. MAD? NO JUST CRAZY . HAPPY PLAYING WITH ? YES

Looked at new versions of camera radio wireless triggers and receivers by the same make and had quite a shock at the prices asked for

Funnily enough, I have two of the same units. It doesn't really matter what make you buy it for as the only difference is the cable and an appropriate one is easily sourced from eBay.

I guessed a much but wasn't sure. There was one advertised for a Canon camera but at double the price then I would still have to get the right cable. The one I ordered was only £23 including posting and with the correct cable. Looking at others are in the region of £40+of course all second hand and not many about either. cable is around £10

I was thinking of this setup

I was thinking of shooting two cameras at the same time both cameras with wireless camera triggers . Then I could have on one camera to using popup flash, while on the other a wireless radio flash trigger to two remote flash guns. That would give me 3 sources of flash. below the wireless camera trigger waiting for another receiver to arrive

My thinking is that using the below (camera trigger) with two receivers I could fire off both cameras and all 3 flashes from one trigger , if that makes any sense

so would end up with something like this

just need second receiver for the camera on the left
right hand camera trigger mounted on the master flash master trigger to fire off the two remotes and camera
and the camera on the left will have second camera trigger receiver which will fire off the camera flash and camera

All fired from that unit in the front

Why you may well ask At the moment all I can get is something like this

AxMpyYe.jpg

with 2 cameras better chance of the bird facing the right way

If you assign the shutter buitton for movies the remote works to take movies, yippee. G4 on the Nikon D810 menu

so able to get both sides of a heritage train approach

That should work but there may be a chance of the exposure on the camera with just pop-up flash being thrown off by the flashes of the other camera.
