Wireless booster query

I need to get the wireless signal boosted in my garage. I've seen those plug in aerial things but don't they need the sockets to be on the same ring as the modem? which the garage sockets aren't.

They receive the signal from the main Wifi unit and then retransmit it, so if you place it about halfway between the main unit and the garage that should give you a better signal.

There are 2 kinds. One passes the signal through your mains and then retransmits it. The other is basically an amplifier - it listens for the signal and then boosts it. Either way, what you *really* want is a mesh system
