Edit My Images
Yes
Hello. Ive started work on a website to display my images. I use a 15-55mm IS lens and a 55-250mm with a 400D body.

What do you make of the motorsport shots? All my images are resized to 1000 width and then wordpress resized them to 800. Some of them do look a little blurred but are they good images for a 55-250mm canon IS lens ?

I will be adding a lot more photos pretty soon hopefully :)

It seems you want us to comment on your motorsport pictures? you need to post them to the forum for that... then you will get feedback.. :)

Yeah I was thinking as soon as I posted maybe it should of gone in the other section. Theres isn't much web content to comment on. Im finding it hard to add content because im not doing it commerical so im unsure on what to put on the home page. Im thinking maybe updates for example when ive been out doing a biking shoot I could add a post to the home page saying something like "Biking shoot", with a few photos which links to the gallery as well.

Or pop them on Flickr. It's better for generating comments than a webpage without a comments button

If it's comment on the website in general you're looking for..
  • It's unfinished and doesn't have any obvious purpose at the moment - attracting comissions, selling content, vanity project? Until it's finished there's not much more to say, except..
  • It's a pain to look through the images when they're all different sizes and the "forward" button dances about under your cursor. I've given up after missing the button for the second time and being dumped back onto the gallery view. If you're going to play silly beggars with the crop tool.. put a border back onto each image to bring them back to the same size and aspect ratio

Cheers for the comments. I keep most of my images (the race ones anyway) to a width of 1000 but yeah the height changes. May be it would be better to find a different gallery. May be have it so you just click the image you want to see enlarged. Is there a feature in photoshop where I can set the aspect ratio?

I had to crop a lot of my images because ive only had the 55-250mm lens for one motorsport shoot. Before that I had to use the 18-55mm lens.

You could crop/resize them to 1000px wide, at a 20px border on either side and a variable width border top and bottom to take into account the different crops. That way the displayed image could be kept consistent despite variable aspect ratio crops.

This would be very easy with Lightroom using Mogrify, although you'd need a quick bit of arithmatic for the top and bottom border. If you can stick to just two or three aspect ratios you could simplify the process.

Can't help you with Photoshop, it always seems like over-kill and over-complicated to me when Lightroom is so much easier for this type of thing..

There must be a tutorial video some where :) I tried lightroom but found it confusing. Only because im not used to it though.
