By jove that's a near miss!

I expected to see lots of downed trees around here, but nothing. There were bits of branches and stuff on the roads, but that was it.

Yes it was. We heard a loud noise then the upper branches brushing the dining room window. There are two conifers in the garden next door, both in excess of 15m high. That was just part of one of them.

The weather must stop at Carlisle

There has not been much coverage, if any, about the Highlands.

Reports today from Nevis Range '...The upper lifts are not operating as they are buried. Hill staff are digging out lifts as fast as they can...'

this is some of the glass from a greenhouse two doors down from us which succumbed to last nights high winds and scattered large swathes of across three gardens and this is our fence post:

Yup. Broken glass must've been launched a good 15m across 3 gardens by the wind.. Some massive pieces.

I've never seen anything so ridiculous like it

This is a major reason why the advice is to stay indoors!

Not necessarily glass , but all sorts of flying debris causing injuries.

I lived in Brighton in 1987 and a friend lived in Moulsecoomb at the top of the hill and his garden was covered in bits of the plastic sheeting from the Royal Pavillion about 3 miles away!

Went into work yesterday

Outside there's an effluent plant

A plastic water tower 15ft high 6ft diameter 1/2 full of water has been moved about 6" by the wind

They say water weighs 1 tonne per cubic metre so it must be at least 10 tonnes
