yes moore has some nice wildlife and with the high tides coming in your likely to catch a few things nearer the hides now.

moore can be a pretty exposed place so wear something warm.
its a long way from the road.

I go on my bike !!

pace

I 'found' Moore on Saturday, was worn out from a morning at Rixton Clay Pits so only had a quick walk around to see whats there... looks pretty good for birds etc :)

If you want Dragonfiles, Grasshoppers, Frogs etc then Rixton Clay Pits is a great spot

Where is Windy Bank Wood?

Where is Windy Bank Wood?

Windy Bank Wood
Jennets Lane, Glazebury, Warrington
Established on former farmland with tranquil walks through the edges
of ancient peatland, open meadows and newly created woodland.

I love taking photos of trees/woods/forests and just did a google for local woods (I am in St.Helens).
Btw thanks everyone for your suggestions :)

I went to Moore Nature Reserve last weekend for the first time. My sat nav had a job finding it and I didn't realise you had to park on the road and went driving off down a track before realising that no car park was going to appear! Anyway was so glad I persevered as it was great, loads of fungi and berries in the woods. Saw a few birds from the hides, nothing unusual but was pleased with what I took and aim to go back there again sometime soon. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I went to Windy Bank Wood this morning. Had to park on a nearby shopping centre car park, wish I hadn't as the footpath to the woods was a good 15 minute walk until I got to the woods (lazy git ;) ). Anyway, I only went to one part of the woods which was quite small but quite colourful, will have to go again and explore the rest of it.

i'm orginally from warrington but have just moved to widnes, and i can honestly say i have never heard of "Windy bank wood"
