Just wondering if anyone has ever used fans/hair dryers etc to obtain the 'hair blowing' look in studio photography?
I have an idea for one of my nail comps, and Id like to have the hair blown look.
The Bowens windmachine is rather an extorionate price so I was looking at this fan last night as suggested to me by DF ...

Anyone got any advice regarding this sort of thing?
Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated before I purchase.

They are the ones (or something very similar) that we have in the studio at college.

We have a couple of those in our office to shift some cool air in from outside by putting them on the windowsill. They work well, but are noisy. I think we picked ours up from Costco for around the same price.

The one I used (many years ago) at college was an old unbranded thing that looked like a giant old-fashioned hair-dryer. Massive amount of noise too.

I think they do a larger on - 22" or so, we use it in our clubs studio all the time, watch the height of the fan, for full legnth put it just about waist height and adjust from there for the desired effect.

Luckily we own a 4 storey building - have 2 studios, 4 darkrooms, a soon to be closed digital suite with 4 pc's and all ancilaries plus a gallery too.
