Let's imagine you have one and you record something naughty. For example someone undertaking you at 138mph (ok 38mph in 30 zone) or a dibble clearly speeding to the gas station without blue lights on. Or maybe a big black S-class merc cutting across on a roundabout to the wrong lane and nearly taking you out? What do you do - watch it at home in secrecy / post on youtube / send to police station? Mind you most of this bad behaviour is a daily sight for me now and I am thinking about a camera. I would obviously want most of these Glasgow yobs banned from the roads though :)

Probably nothing if I'm honest.

If it inadvertently recorded some catastrophic accident then that would be different.

Diesel? I don;t drive a tractor.

Why.. you speeding?

No need. Most petrol cars have really slow acceleration from 0. Then they see the need to "retaliate" and undertake a mile later doing illegal speeds. Typical for Glasgow.

If they're insecure perhaps. LOL. I KNOW I could beat you, so wouldn't be arsed. In my other car... I know I WOULDN'T.... so wouldn't be arsed: Slow cars should be banned... they're bad for people with insecurity issues. If only a psych test was part of obtaining a license.. the roads would be a great deal emptier... and better behaved.

Whatever turns you on, what a sad life you must lead if this is going to be your new hobby by being a knobend like the owner of this website http://www.edinburghsworstdrivers.com/

Neither do I but I usually mainly see petrol cars in my mirrors :)

I had to check who posted that.. thought it may have been another Jock!

If I had a dash cam I wouldn't forward it to plod. I don't see the point given the resources they've put in to catch speeding motorists which are the very worst motorists they surely don't need any other factor to ban someone other than a number above a speed limit ? Right?

Aaaand, they're off.......

I'm wondering this as well. I've got one installed and although have seen a few sketchy drivers, never bothered to save the recording.

[rant]
It's those self entitled drivers who really need to be delivered a warning. Driving in north London, I see a lot of cars that drives out of Give-ways just because I have left a safe gap. What I hate the most is those who barely pause at Give-ways, just slowly creeps out until the traffic have to give way to them.

Also the phenomenon I call speed camera braking. They drive right up to you or speed away at 60mph like they own the road, then brake to 45 when passing a 50 speed camera. What's frustrating is that majority of the drivers seems to do the same to a lesser degree.

can the mods add "dibble" to the autocorrect list too.

If the petrol engines have the same sized capacity engine as the diesel, it's more likely that the petrol would be the quicker car from 0. Modern diesels are more likely to be quicker than petrols at overtaking speeds however even though the engines can be a lot less powerful.

that didnt take long.

can the mods add "dibble" to the autocorrect list too. its really childish bloody annoying.
:agree:
Almost as pathetic as calling them the 5-o or the Po-Po.

If you drive them at red line, yes. Nobody does though. Diesels are optimised for legal speeds and every day driving. It's all about low rpm power and torque, it doesn't matter if petrol does say 200bhp at 5000rpm and only 60 at the usual 1700.

But what about dangerous driving like somebody swerving around as if they had a drink? Or being right idiots?

If they have the time and space to undertake you, then surely you're in the wrong lane?

1. They shouldn't drive over the limit (sometimes excessivelly - I had white van 60ish in 30 a few weeks ago)
2. I am clearly not going to have much luck turning right from the left lane, am I?

1. That doesn't surprise me
2. Undertaking vehicles turning right is absolutely fine. "Drivers should only overtake on the left if the vehicle in front is signalling to turn right"

I don't need to drive my petrol at the red line. You do realise that most modern petrols have direct injection and VVCT allowing torque to start coming in at much lower speeds. Just because the rev bands are different it doesn't mean you have to redline the petrol.

Surprising how few people know this. I do it all the time when I can. But usually the a******e turning right hasnt pulled far enough over to allow anybody past on the inside and instead block the whole lane. And Im talking about stationary vehicles waiting for oncoming traffic here. If they all feckin pulled over to the crown, commuting times across the country would be halved I reckon.

I wonder if that van blocking the pavement made the local paper

Actually Darren some of it does, a pic posted on the site was in the local evening paper http://www.edinburghsworstdrivers.com/bus-drivers-paperwork-1-1696/
The photo is in Shandwick Place Edinburgh and the lights the bus driver is sitting at probably waiting for long periods until the tram had passed by, so what do they expect the driver to sit picking his nose or something. I call it a opportunity grabbed to relax for a minute or two knowing your not going anywhere. What the knobends website article doesn't tell you this street is for buses, taxis and cycles only and very clearly signposted about 300 + yards back with a opportunity to turn off if a driver makes a mistake. The tog is clearly in a car ...why is he there in the first place?

There is no requirement for the police or any other emergency service to show blues to exceed speed limits.

Examples: police responding to a robbery in progress. Trying to catch up to a suspect without alerting them.
Ambulance with agitated patient

Unless they ran out of fuel mid-chase... That wouldn't work so well catching the criminals IMHO.

If you're positioned and signalling to turn right, then there's no problem with passing you on the left any way.

What about the 300m before the turn, or do I make a mad lane change in busy traffic at the last second?

Then make it clear you weren't at the time, actually signalling or manoeuvring to turn right.

No point in informing the police. Nothing will happen. They are too busy following up complaints from offended Twitter users.
