Im due an upgrade quite soon and really not sure which way to go. I have an s2 currently and paying 35 per month on vodafone, who are getting pricey these days and ideally I should reduce my monthly amount. I see there is a reasonable range of windows phones but i don't know anyone with one to gather opinions.

I was always with iphone from day 1 until i upgraded to Samsung galaxy s2 came out and loved the s2 far more than iphone then i moved to Nokia lumia 800 through lots of reccomendations from friends and hated it so much, so basic, small & heavy compared to s2 just didnt like the OS at all Just got S4 on contract and absolutely love it i guess Samsung meets my need & is a personal favourite. Saying that i have ipad for my IOS fix

I thought about an iphone as I could get the 4 for £21 p/m and free, but I just can't see myself going over to an iphone, if I did it would have to be the latest and greatest version, not something that has been superseded twice. I also don't think I would be happy going for a lower end android to keep the cost per month down, which led me to the windows phones, but could I stick one for 2 years?

How are you finding the s4? whats the battery life like?

The latest nokia wp8 phone is superb. Windows app store will never have as much as android or iohone but still has loads.
Ivenhad a wp7 htc hd7 for 18 months and its as good as anything ivenhad before, just notnupgrading to the nokia as im waiting for it to break then no more mobile for me...... its a cost I dont need....

I've no idea about phones, so take with a pinch of salt..but listening to Radio Suffolk a couple of weeks ago it was suggested that Windows 8, the platform for these phones/tabs was not performing like it should and that MSN hadn't learnt anything from the hoo-har it had with Vista.

Ah Radio Suffolk, that bastion of tech knowledge :)

The Lumia 800 was a Windows Phone 7 phone. Windows Phone 8 is a different beast altogether. I've had my Lumia 920 since it launched here in HK and love it, excellent phone. All the apps I use are available, great camera, nice slick OS that doesn't get in the way and lets me get on with using it.

As with the tedious Windows vs Mac debate, these days there isn't an awful lot of difference between phone OSes, they all work. Which works for you will be down to personal preference so best bet is to go try some out in a shop and see what you get on with best.

Can't talk to the 920 but I can go > 24 hours on my HTC 8X running Windows Phone 8 provided I go easy on calls/browsing etc..

Don't know what the radio station was on about: browsing and performance on my phone leaves my old iPhone for dead.
