Nokia 635 available at circa £110, why spend £400 plus on a bloody handset.

The point we were making that you can buy a phone for a few ££
and sim only, that way you save a lot of money,
but if you are looking at the latestes gizzmo, at hundreds of ££ there isn't much in it.

Yes I see that now.

Actually that's not too bad.. I was looking at the 930.. My phone has always been my one geeky thing just for me, everything else is kids..
But I'm iPhone and sim free now to save costs and I like the price I pay..
If I sold the iPhone I could do that perfectly fine and no boosted contract :D

635 £110, EE have just given me unlimited calls, texts and 2 gig data for £13.94.........get you abacus out and do the sums, only one way to go for saving brass......not that i`m frugal or anything.....:D

That's an ace deal and way better than my sim deal.. I'm vodaphone £15 but only 500 mb data..
I'm limited to I can go with though because of where I live

EE coverage seems better now than a few years ago, i`m sure they have a coverage map on the website:

They do

Only place I found vodaphone better was the Hebrides, may have changed again by now though.

Nah they are awful here I left orange/EE back in January when I moved coverage was next to nothing..
Vodaphone is passable and 02 look like they may be ok but most services here are pretty grotty at best

I get the latest and shiniest. My wife get my old one and my daughter gets her old one. Works for us.

I'm on a 20GB data contract with unlimited calls/text/international. The difference between getting one with or without phone is so small that it doesn't really matter either way. Due to where we live and terrible reception Vodafone is the only realistic option with guaranteed service working through their sure signal service.

The point of all of this is that ultimate it just depends on ones personal situation and requirements which way is cheapest.

If my only choices were Android or Windows I would go with a Windows phone. Although Vanilla android is not that bad I find it annoying that basic open standards like caldav for calendaring and carddav for contacts aren't supported without paying for additional applications. Oh the irony that Microsoft and Apple actually do support those open standards is actually quite amusing in a geeky kind of way.

Generally it seems to take about 18-20 months for purchased phone + sim package to pay back. Much of that is down to the sim-only deal you get: I have Giffgaff and get 600min/1Gb/unlimited texts for £10pm.

And that is why it is so personal. That would last me 3 days :(

All our needs are different. Hence there are so many different price plans available to suit those individual needs.

Of course. £18pm gets unlimited data, but there are many reasons why people pick the carriers they do, and price is only part of it.

Agreed. Reception and reliability is the main one for me. Close second is the number of minutes I use my phone for talking a lot and data/tethering. I easily use about 4-5,000 minutes and 15-20GB.

Just got the Nexus 6. It is a fantastic phone. Don't have tablet so went for a 6" phone. Really happy with it. But I do like android.

Had mine for a couple of weeks now and absolutely love it. It's big although I've got used to that very quickly (my old Nexus 5 which my wife now has feels tiny). I'm finding the battery life really good too despite all the doom and gloom I read before buying it.

Well only had the 735 for couple of days but very impressed!!Battery life will give you 2 days screen is fantastic and lumia denim OS is very nice and slick.I'm not one for loads of selfies but the 5mp wide angle front camera is very very good. For £159 its a bargain and specs are pretty good for mid range phone.

If you want to make phone calls then Nokia 3210 is the answer. I keep promising myself to switch back from my HTC one to a phone that actually can make calls and where the battery lasts more than a day.

windows apps are not 'bad' - rather not plentiful

if you like social media then all the usuals are there, facebook, twitter, instagram, whatsapp

camera on nokia/microsoft is good, very impressed with the 920 i used to have and the 930 i now have

dont know what other apps people use all the time, but Tapatalk works....

this is good - work are replacing our blackberries with nokia windows phones in the new year

It's a bit annoying, but I did get the 930 "for free", so I guess they're just recouping the cost of the phone through my bill instead!.

My wife got a 630 (for free), with 500mins/500texts/500 data for £8.50p/m, which cancels out my bill a bit! lol
