I read somewhere that when you update to windows 10 it keeps your old windows on the system incase you don't like it. Will I like it but have been tidying up the PC. I found an old windows.old. Here's the route:

This PC > Acer (C): > Windows old

Is this my old windows and can it be deleted? It's 51.6gb

W10 should automatically delete it after 28 days from when you did the update.

It will delete automatically as per AM above, but within that time if you don't like Win 10 you can roll back to your previous version providing you don't delete it

You can choose to let Windows get rid of it using system restore and clean up your restore points.

Mike, if you don't need the space urgently, then I'd let windows delete it after the 28 days as per above

I noticed the recent large update created a new .old folder so may not be related to the original upgrade.
It was about 61gb though in the end. And when I'd finished the cleanup after clicking previous windows versions the folder had gon. But thanks for the heads up.

I've had my windows 10 for months. I wonder if there was a tick box I must have ticked telling it not to automatically delete the old version.

Wow, will check wife's laptop and mother in laws to make sure they do go / have gone ...
