Windows explorer folders

I am using windows 7 64x and I prefer to have my windows explorer documents folder view options set to 'details' obviously when opening my pictures folder I like to have these set to 'large icons' so I can see the images. However after a while my windows keep resetting everything back to 'arge icons' and i'm forever trying to change it back to 'details' again. Is there anyway to keep it set as i like it, because i remember in vista and xp it only changed the sub folders to how you liked them and didn't keep resetting them back again.

set the view you want, click organize, folder and search options, view tab, apply to folders

that will set the current view on all folders.

Do as Neil says to set all your folders to 'Details' then select the folder your images are in, right click - Properties - Customize - 'Optimize This Folder For' and select Pictures and it should show icons, oh select to include sub folders too.
