A recent update has caused my PC to display thumbnails for everything... and I don't want raw thumbnails but I do want JPEG thumbnails.

This happened once before and I managed to sort it out in regedit but this time I've had total brain fade and I can't remember what I did so could some kind person please tell me how to stop thumbnails appearing for raw files and keep them for JPEG's.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about PCs, but perhaps if you try clicking on Desktop and then on View, you may get options.

I think that just applies the change globaly so that all things appear as thumbnails or icons or whatever, what I want to do is display raws as icons and JPEGs as thumbnails so that I can easily tell them apart and don't click on a raw when I all I want to do is look at a JPEG.

I managed a fix of sorts so I thought I'd post it here just in case anyone else is annoyed by any update that makes the PC show a thumbnail for everything.

I called up regedit and deleted the following...

DNG, RW2 and CR2

from...

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.css
but that didn't work :D
so I deleted them from here...
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.rwl
and that worked and now raw files appear as icons not as thumbnails. JPEGs still appear as thumbnails.

I'm too simple-minded to understand that, so I do all my file management in Lightroom. By using the "Text" filter, I can choose e.g. file extension ".jpg" to see only jpegs, etc. But maybe you prefer not to use LR.
