Hi,
This has probably been asked before but I did do a search and couldn't find much. I have a new macbook pro but I want to install windows 7 and use VMware so that I can run a few programs that I can't on the mac os.

I therefore need to buy windows 7, what is the cheapest way of doing this? I am a student but it seems all the student deals relate to upgrades but as I am not running windows at the moment, I can't use these?

Thanks for any help :)

Cheers neil, reading through this..

I am a bit confused, when you setup software such as vmware or parallels do you install windows 7 again? I want to use windows the same time as using mac os, do I therefore not install via bootcamp?

Sorry if these questions are stupid..

sounds like that is talking about using the copy of windows twice, once on bootcamp and once on parallels.

if youre only going to be booting in to OSX and running Windows under VMWare you only need to install windows once under VM.

I found Parallels to run a bit slow with 2 gig on mem in my macbook
so i now do it with bootcamp go to utils and run it you can set size of drive ets and make a drivers disk so when you done you can install the drivers on win7
