Yes
I have now installed Windows 11 on one of my Z800s - The REAL machine, not a Virtual Machine, using a few hacks I found online.

And it works perfectly (so far)

The Z800 already had a genuine version of Win 10 (activated) on it and Win 11 upgraded from that.

It took about 1 1/2 hours or so with a lot of restarts but in the end it was working great - and after a few tries it is now also activated

Also downloaded all the current updates with no problems.

So far, so good - and I really do like the layout of it all.

Can you say which version of W10 it updated from e.g. 20H2 or 21H1 (if I have correctly recalled the most recent W10 update and it's previous one?)

TIA :)

Does your Z800 have the right TPM? Mine doesn't seem to.

Sorry this is a bit late in posting.

I'm using a special Batch file which does all the work for me - the file is called "WinPass11Auto" and is available from Softpedia.

As far as I know TPM V 1.2 is installed on the Z800, so doesn't meet the Microsoft requirements.

But even if it did it still wouldn't make any Legacy machine compatible, because you also have to have compatible Video Cards (!) and CPUs as well as everything else.

ATM the Z800 I'm using has W11 build 22000.184 version 21H2 installed and running.

However I did hit some snags (not unexpected) - there are no drivers available for any video cards I have if I do a clean install and not an upgrade from W10

Again, not unexpected since this is a Windows Insider Preview I'm running.

Also Clear Type is pretty useless at giving me a nice full appearance to my fonts etc - the usual ones appear "straggly".

In fact the last time ClearType gave a pleasing appearance to fonts etc was in Win 7.

Of course I AM using my Samsung 40" TV for my monitor, and they do look better on my photo editing monitor so don't suppose that will ever change.

I now have everything looking much better with all fonts now looking good.

But to achieve that I had to upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10 and then upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11.

And that way everything seemed to carry over much better, including Activation (so I now have a fully activated Win 11) and everything looks much better.

Also have to watch when Microsoft updates because my PC has suddenly frozen twice when I was getting updated.

Fortunately VirtualBox still seems to be running OK so I can still use all my VMs.

Not sure what will happen on the full release but TBH it doesn't really matter a lot to me since I run everything inside VMs - they also run perfectly on Linux so I'm not particularly tied to Microsoft, unlike (I guess) most other people.

Had a play with the Win11 release of Powertoys yesterday.
The conversion option seems okay as long as you can remember the syntax
Power Rename could be useful
Image Resizer seems usable.
Nothing exciting in the Explorer add-ons
I guess 'Awake' could be useful if you're leaving the PC doing something that will take a long time
Colour Picker doesn't seem anything new we've not had in Photoshop for agres
And 'Fancy Zones' - Well, if you use snap to zones on your machine a lot, I can see it would be useful - how many people do?

I bit the bullet and joined the Windows Insider programme so I could download the beta version of Windows 11 on my Lenovo Thinkbook.

Installation ran smoothly and I have to say, even as a reskined version of Windows 10, I quite like the fresh UI.
It feels as though Microsoft have made a genuine effort to modernise an otherwise dated look and feel.

So far so good to with my various applications working as expected.

So far I've installed it on about 6-8 totally unsupported machines to try it out and it runs perfectly on all of them.

Even including a Duo Core machine!

So just hope Microsoft rescinds their absurd restrictions.
