Anyone having problems with windows 10 and WiFi cards?

Grandsons i5 desktop pc was upgraded from win 8 to win 10, now it can't connect to Internet via wifi, if connected with cable to router it works fine but as it is in his bedroom he needs WiFi. The WiFi card is pci-e Addon--nwp300 v3. It will show routers ssid but that's it. I've looked for updated win 10 driver for this card with no joy, I've also tried the registry fix floating about the net and lots of other so called fixes. Only conclusion I can come to is the WiFi card is not compatible with win 10, rest of computer works perfectly.

Can you recommend a win 10 compatible WiFi card that will work without the hassle. Thanks.

Hi Peter, it shows in device manager as 802.11n wireless lan card. I uninstalled the 802.11n then re-installed the one from your link above, still unable to connect to the net and still showing 802.11n wireless lan in device manager, but routers SSID shows in the connections available list.

I have just had to uninstall Win 10 off the wifes laptop as something was causing it to crash every few minutes, we got the blue screen DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION and even the techs dot quite know how to help us, so rolled back to 8.1 and now running fine, but it was losing the network quite a lot too.

Complete longshot Frank, but is this the latest version of win 10 he has upgraded to ? I believe I read a couple of weeks ago there was an update released - quite a large update I believe ...

Oh and another thought from years ago when I had an issue with a card - have you tried uninstalling everything to do with the card, removing the card, installing / re-installing windows and then re-inserting the card (maybe in a different pic-e slot) and then re-installing the drivers / software etc...

Probably a complete long shot, but

The latest version is 1511 I have it on my laptop and its very stable

Hi Frank
Is the card connecting to the router but not the net? click on the SSID in the available networks, it will expand and show a button (connect or disconnect) I am thinking windows firewall and the antivirus may not be playing nicely, try turning the windows firewall off to test, also check the security settings are the same as the router, eg WPA2 personal,
Pete

It would be interesting to try a USB dongle, but speeds are often a bit slower than the onboard card.

Router SSID was showing in the connections available list, 2g only, all above attempts were made without any antivirus on the drive and firewall turned off, risky I know but needs must I thought.

Funny you should mention that, it was my thought too, after some research I found Netgear A6210 USB 3 had win 10 drivers on their website, As it was my grandson I took out his dodgy wifi card, nipped down to Currys and picked up a Netgear A6210 USB 3 adapter. Took just a couple of mins to install software and dongle and it works a treat first time, Got 5G connection too which will be handy.

Thanks to all for your suggestions guys
