Windows 10 external hard drive access issue (SOLVED)

Has anyone had this problem or can assist with a solution.
A few days ago i did a clean install of windows 10 on the laptop.
Tonight i plugged in my external hard drive to move some files over.
Windows will let me gain access to my pictures and music but it refuses me to let me access my videos folder.
When i try to enter it brings up a permissions prompt and reverts me to the security tab of the folder - when i follow the instructions nothing happens and i am still access denied.
Any help would be appreciated.

Notes - i already have full administrator permissions for my user name.

Disaster averted - had to go into an advance tab and re assign administrators to the folder a all works fine now.

Not sure why it allowed access to music and photos but not videos but all sorted now.
