Windows 10 ~ Calculator (app?) no longer works

Not sure when I first realised but the calculator no longer opens........................I clicked it but nowt ???

Last weekend I was getting dialogues up telling me that Microsoft Store could not update and it will keep trying but that has now stopped reminding me !

Picking MS Store from the start menu ~ nothing happens but right clicking and going to Apps Properties I note firstly that Calculator is not listed and other ones are greyed out ~ so what gives, as in what has changed other than MS update recently.

Any ideas???

No but sometimes things come back on their own so I'm tempted to counsel patience for week or two. I'm probably more bothered by things that insert themselves without asking. Like Windows Ink, which interfered mysteriously with the operation of my graphics tablet.
 
Your lucky it's only just happened to you as it happened to me months ago.
If you Google 'old windows calculator' you should find a link where you can download it from.

Windows Store Apps troubleshooter.

Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot
Scroll down to the bottom
Click Windows Store Apps

Click Run the troubleshooter

When complete try opening the Store again.

Yes, tried that but it did not report anything but did offer me 'signin to the MS account' of which I don't recall setting one originally. Is this MS pushing W10 users to add an account that in the past was never needed to use basic functions???

I tried the link off the link you posted to reset the cache .....got the error message needing to take the next step of running a command line! No time now to get deeper ;)
