Windows 10 and Lightroom

Hi All
I have just upgraded to Windows 10 from Win 7 and noticed that I am now able to use the graphics processor in Lightroom where it was previously disabled, anyone else noticed this?
 
No, because you've always been able to do that. What's happened is that you've previously not had correct drivers installed for your GPU (or there was another driver issues you were never aware of), and as Windows 10 auto updates such things with no input from you (which I'm now beginning to understand why), your machine now has a validated driver, and LR can now access your GPU.


I'm on Win 8....

Mine still says GPU disabled due to errors..also under system info it says my operating system is W8.1 although I upgraded to W10!..any ideas?

Are there any issues with your GPU? Check device manager to see if all is OK.

What type of graphics card is it? There's a possibility it's not supported.

Also.. reading this suggests also that there is a problem with some AMD GPUs.

Not having any issues, and when I search for updating graphics driver it tells me windows have detected that my graphics driver is the one and up to date!

My system tells me I'm on windows 10, how would I know if its a tech preview, and am not having any issues with LRCC, in fact it seems a little more responsive

If you upgraded via the usual channels after the official upgrade release, you'll not be on the tech preview.

you'd know because you'd have specifically installed it :) (also it will say evaluation version on the bottom right of the screen)

Is it any of the AMD devices listed in the articles I linked to? If so, it may be an Adobe issue, and not at your end.
 
not a tech preview..Lightroom says although graphics card meets minimum requirements it may not be supported..windows says driver is up to date (in Device manager under display adaptors it reports INTEL(R) HD GRAPHICS)

Is this related to the latest version of Lightroom 6? In what I understand to be a new feature, it makes increased use of the graphics processor for improved performance. I don't have the latest version yet, but have severe slow-running problems when a lot of local adjustment are applied. I also have an AMD processor...

There's your answer then... it's not supported yet. That's surprising, unless you have a very recent Broadwell or Skylake based CPU as your graphics processor is based on your CPU it would appear.

GPU acceleration doesn't automatically mean better performance if you have a crap GPU. It may make it worse.

Have you tried switching GPU acceleration off?

It also only works in the develop module only.
