I'm after something similar in function to the Bowens Jet Stream Wind Machine for studio usage, but not a chance I'm going to blow £700 on what is essentially a fan...

I know I could use an everyday fan, but I was quite hoping to get something that's a little more 'focussed' rather than one that blows wind in every direction. Preferably with different speeds etc.

Anyone had the same problem, any suggestions?

Thanks.

:schtum: at my initial thoughts on what I could offer in the Wind machine department

lol, I thought a few peoples ideas may venture down that road :naughty:

The garden blower does sound a good idea, Im sure you could rig something up to keep it in position.

It does make sense... I'm just not sold on the noise though that's my only worry - I'll have to have a play with one.

That does look like it could shift some air... not very focused, but I bet it could dam near blow the studio away

Normal wind machines make a racket as well.

Ah ok thanks Julian, never actually tried one before :)

Saying that the last time I was near a wind machine was around 1995 so things may have changed since then:shrug:

Quite liking the look of the fan Mike suggested - looks handy for blowing nice floaty dresses to :)

Always open to other suggestions though - I shall raid B&Q's garden department tomorrow lol.

Just thought I would let you guys know I just purchased one of these from Calumet:

LINKY

Once it arrives I'll let you all know how I get on with it :)

What about ducting a regular fan (or two) to give you a bit more focus?

I'm thinking of getting a second fan a little down the line to compliment the one I just ordered - It will be similar in style to the kind you suggest :)

Rob did you have any lock with this fan?

Cheers

Simon

Great fan, bit on the noisy side but I guess that's expected for something moving so much air :) Does a good job though, great value for money. Had to sell mine though when I moved house :(

Strange, I have never looked at someones photos when they have used a wind machine and thought,

"nice shot that.......but i bet the wind machine made a racket!"
