I expect they will add you to their mailing list yes, but it's not like proper spam, you can always unsubscribe with the link at the end of the e-mail.
 
what else is hotmail for but to use for things like this? they can send me whatever they like to there, I aint gonna look at it.

Almost all competitions are a way of doing that, it's a given, they are not going to give away things for free if they get no promotion out of it are they?
 
suppose we can always "unsubscribe" by law they have to have that option these days, if they don't it's not legal.
 
Could always set up a gmail or hotmail email address just for the competition and then delete when the competition is over :)
