Just wondering if anybody has burned any DVD`s with win 7? Nero spits them out after about 70% of burning  Divx burner says it burned a file succesfully, but when you check the disc there is jack ***** on it. And to finish off windows own burning utility stops after about 10 seconds with the message your hardware is unable to burn at speeds of 2x or higher
As far as I can make out Nero has not released an update for win 7 yet. Have tried different new discs of a decent brand so i am stumped at the mo :(

DVD movies or files on to a DVD?

sure your writer is okay if all 3 software packages are having issues?

Just avi files and burn them as divx or as avi Neil, had no prob before with XP. Previously I could alter write speed of DVD drive, now it seems it is stuck on 2x  Everything seems as it should in device manager, and latest drivers are installed. The only thing I was going to try was run it in compatibilty mode if it allows me to.

Im using nero 8.3.6.0 never had a problem burn yet in windows 7 .

have you got all your chipset drivers installed okay from the motherboard makers website?

Ive burned a few iso images from the windows 7 utility, i find it alot easier

it depends on the program you are using try turning the write speed down wimndows 7 tends to burn too fast and you get errors.

never had a problem burning anything under Windows 7, even in the Beta releases.

firmware upgrade your DVDRW drive.

Nero V9 supports Win 7.
However, there is a known bug that causes burning issues.
I've had an 'illegal disk' error when trying to burn either files or images to DVDs.
It seems at first that people using the latest version of Kaspersky AV were the only ones with this issue but this does not seem to be the case.
I've given up with Nero and using the burning tools in Win 7 and I've had no problems at all.
If you want to use an a burning application, imgburn is free and works very well in Win 7 : www.imgburn.com
I like it because it tells you how much disk space you have used when adding files to burn.

Thanks all for suggestions. Tried deepburner that just spits it out as well  My burner is a couple of years old but would not have thought that would have made too much difference, unless it is shot in some way. I might pick up a sata burner the weekend and see what happens, if that does the same then my burner can go in the stepsons pc and I will have to investigate further :suspect:

I have burned a couple with Deepburner (free) and not had any issues... Must be a Nero thing. Personally i have gone off Nero as its too bloated these days.

I second that!
It's used to be great but it's so bloated now it's unreal.
All I want is an easy burning app without having to deselct all the bloatware before doing an install.

I havent had any problems with the build in DVD burner, nero or deepburner.
Maybe you need to check for the most up to date drivers for your burner.

Already installed Chris :( Doing a search turns up a few results of the same prob, have tried all fixes and still no joy. XP here we come :D

You can now get Nero free with just the burning software - and it's legal.

I used it myself on XP and it works fine - but the only prob I had is that you can't make a multi-session disc with it, so I'll stick with my Nero 6.
