Do what?

Okay, so I was thinking what to do for a "thank you" for all the support I've received here on TP over the last few months. After the fiasco of the wedding shooter contest (who thought it would be so hard to give stuff away without getting pelted with abuse?) I wasn't overly keen to run another photo contest, but then I came up with an plan (actually I didn't, I nicked the idea from Zack Arias :naughty:).....

No photos needed this time, all I want is for you to nominate another TP member to receive the prize and tell me why you think they deserve to win. Perhaps someone whose photography has improved over the last year, or someone for whom photography has has been a help coping with a loss or a disability, or perhaps even just someone whose contribution to TP has made you laugh or smile.

I'll leave the interpretation of the criteria wide open, but you can only nominate someone else and they must be a regular contributor to Talk Photography with a minimum post count of at least 500.

The one and only prize will be £50 worth of items from my sales post, any £50 worth, excluding p+p (that's free too though ;))

The closing date is December 18th at midnight, so get your thinking caps on

One final thing, I'll be choosing the winner, so there's no point in pming your mates to vote for you, cos I'll spot it and none of you will win :rules::bat::naughty::D

A great idea FIP  Are we to PM you with our choice of nominee? Or post it up for all to see?

I nominate Canon Bob, always helpful, sometimes to an amazing degree!

I would like to nominate Kevshore, This guy is one of the best for help and advice and lets face it how many people offer to have your car fixed at cost fantastic bloke

So many people I could nominate, mainly for reasons of being helpful above and beyond the call of duty. So many friends on here, so many people that I would happily like to see receive some Christmas goodies, including, FWIW, Graham himself, even if I have handed over my hard earned for several items of his stroby goodness, he has always been the one on the end of my frantic calls for help when it comes to anything multi-flashgun related. Because of him and several others I am now much more confident at using strobes, and studio flash.

So its studio flash that brings me to my actual nomination. Many have offered advice, but there is just one person that has written reams of stuff that a complete technical fruitcake like myself can understand in pm's, phonecalls/emails and even in person. Now I KNOW he has a lovely lil studio of his own, but those whopping great heads are a pain in the arris to take outside so I think its time he had something a bit more portable, especially with his 5 models to carry around too.

Therefore my nomination goes to MD - it might not be the winner, but at least he'll know I appreciate everything he has taught me, thanks mate

Dont suppose I am allowed to nominate a second one am I?

My vote goes to Hoppy because he is not pretentious when giving advice and will stay up half the night making sure you grasp the lighting problem at hand.

There are so many to choose from, so apologies to those who did not get my vote.

My vote also goes to HoppyUK. It seems he and I think alike on many topics and he always gives solid advice.

My vote goes to HACKER.

for constant superb photos and helpfulness which is not patronising.

I'll give my vote to Diego Garcia, Pete is always willing to pass on his knowledge to others, he also captures some pretty mean images and sets a standard that I can only aspire too.

It has already been mentioned how difficult this is going to be to choose  so many doing so much for others. For shear perseverance and ability for which she has already been rewarded for, I nominate Kaz for her Kingfisher shots :D

As a relative newbie on here I have spent many hours reading threads that I have taken an interst in and in all that time 1 thread kept drawing me back again and again, so, for that reason I am nominating Edinburgh Gary, he had an idea that he wanted to achieve ( one that many others on here aspire to) and he went for it, Lock, Stock and Barrel. He laid open his plan for all to see and then diligently went about making it happen continually posting updates as they happened, he now sits in the fruits of his labours making his dream come true.

Ok... not a major suck up but... Marcel.

Not that the other Adminnies :D don't do a great job cos they do!

Marcel puts his heart and soul into this site and is always cheerful.. mostly :suspect: despite suffering bouts of depression so he gets my vote.

My vote goes to Venom - always trouble but always making me smile with his posts :)

I can't pick one person alone to be honest, as I think there are several people who deserve it, for many reasons.

What I will say though, is top gesture FITP :clap::clap:

my vote goes to venomator (roger) when i had probs he helped me all the way topman  pm,s posts all sorts of very helpful advice :thankyou:

Good to see you are back FITP :)

As for who to nominate.......

I'll have to get back to you on that one :)

Another here for Marcel! Sterling work for the forum! But mostly for letting me 'borrow, his 'baby', namely his Canon 70-200mm f4L! Anyone who helps another tog (well, nearly!) this way deserves my vote!!

Oh my word this could almost turn into an Oscars Speech (hold on a mo till I get the tears going)

Canon Bob for lending me a lens without knowing me from Adam
Lensflare for doing the same with a Hasselblad!
EdinburghGary for being a top bloke and offering website advice and just generally being an arse! :) Just kidding mate ;)
DiddyDave for being there. Always a giggle and great fun to shoot with. (also has sound lighting skills!)
Garry Edwards who lent me a studio head and fresnel for a shoot.

And
Hoppy for constantly disagreeing with me and making me think :) Being challenged is a good thing.

Could I get that lot down to just one? Not a chance. Thanks guys!

My vote has to go to SimonTALM without whom I would not have done my 52 this year (although I'm behind - again!). Simon started the ball rolling and has religiously pulled the theme out of the hat and posted it each week - and has even offered to do the same next year despite our constant whinging about how difficult the themes are!

Lots of members have taken part in the 52 this year and people are still joining in now so I think we have a lot to thank Simon for. He has also recently suggested the idea of / organised the learn together meets (which I'm gutted that I can't go to) and I just think that Simon is a lovely bloke who seems to want to give something back to the forum.

Thanks Simon ;)

Again CanonBob has been helpful to me on some photoshop issues, even though I come from the darkest side and in the minority here use Pentax.

However, Rockshifter has also been really cool and helpful, and sent me a few high res images of his cows at night (Gotta love cows!)

Under this definition I'm not a regular yet. Does that mean I can't nominate?

Can't believe nobody has nominated Puddleduck. His technical expertise is vast and he is always helping people understand photography equipment and trying to stop others getting carried away and wasting money.

So he get my vote, If I can vote!

Cheers Stuart

Let me say first of all a fantastic gesture.

Well I'd like to nominate my good M8 Fabs (or Marc as he's sometimes known!). He's a good mate, always willing to help with advice, his photography is an inspiration particularly with his 365.

Despite all life has thrown at him he's always smiling.

He'll probably kill me at the meet on 12th what with this post and the thread about his hairdressers/beauty business!!

dito FITP great gesture.... there are so many really helpful people on TP it is sooooooooo
Difficult I must ponder and ponder....and get back... but firstly I must thank all of you on TP that has given me inspiration and help and I am sure you all will know who you are I only wish I could nominate you all....:D

John

I nominate Fabs for being a great bloke and putting up with the hairdresser thread

I vote for Yv for all the time she must of spent on this years convention in York.

Not if I'm paying for it :nono::lol:

 : a sheepish: soz bud.

Also, on second thought. - I'd like to nominate RobertP, an unsung hero of advice and someone who spectacularly took on the building of the Tutorial section, which, for organisation alone is perhaps one of the largest contributions to TP I'm thinkng.
