Hi All, I'm off to Wimbledon next Thursday for the Ladies Semi Finals and was wondering if anyone has been there this year with a DSLR and a couple of lenses (I'm planning to take my 70-300mm and nifty 50) and got any aggro from security?
I know the policy prohibits spectators to take in "professional cameras", so I'm not sure if a gripped D200 with a 70-300 attached will somehow fall in to that category? I have seen people with DSLRs at Wimbledon on TV but was wondering if any forum members have any first hand experience.

Thanks.

I was there on Tuesday and saw plenty of people in the stands shooting on there own, like people that weren't press who had also spread themselves around the stands :)

Your be fine I'm sure. I had my Bronica with me and had no trouble

I was their last year for 3 days and never encountered any trouble. I had a 1Ds MKIII and a couple of lenses, the biggest was a 500mm on a monopod.

I got jokey comments off security and stewards etc but they didn't try and stop me in any way.

They showed a guy on TV the other day with a Canon and what looked like a 70-200 lens.

Aaahh, many thanks guys. Think I'll take the kit as planned. Not been for a few years, so really looking forward to going back.

Do you think I am going to be ok to shot a 400mm f2.8, if just push the boundary a little bit?

went there today. watched last bit of williams sisters double. with 400mm, no questions.asked. did they got me on tv?

I was there last year, centre court, with my 7d and 300mm lens. Plenty of other people with similar kit. Just make sure the flash is disabled. Got some decent images of Federer, Hewitt, Li Na, and a few others.
Security will just search your gear as you enter the complex.
