so paying out £130 on a 40 year old slip gets you in every newspaper and on every news bulletin.

I wonder how many bookmakers would have failed to see the value and made an excuse to not pay out?
 
Yeah, I saw that on the news a few days ago.
The big race coming up & announce an old long lost ticket + the Red Rum name? ............the cynic in me ;)

I agree. The ticket was found 5 months ago, but only in the papers now.

Working for a bookies for many years and with our PR and marketing teams most of that time, they definitely wouldn't have missed this opportunity to get the company name in the papers for virtually nothing. WH would have spotted this a mile off.
