will wearing a watch die out

I feel utterly wrong without a watch. How can anyone say it's easier / quicker to check a phone, when the phone's usually in a pocket or a bag?
 
Generally speaking most days time doesn't overly matter to me so my phone will suffice however there are times when it's nice to have a watch on if your going to be dressed up or have a lot to do, I do have a daily watch and a nice watch, however ironically while the daily watch used to be used just that I've not worn it in a couple of years and the best watch gets worn more than the daily lol
 
Photogrpahing sports for a living I quite often need to keep my eye on the time.. critical sometimes.. knowing when its half time or full time... lots of reasons.. trying to use a phone when your sat at side of pitch hard work..
 
I always used to wear a watch,but my fav watch broke :(,its had given me very good service over many years a taken a lot of stick,just could fine a replacement i liked so just stopped wearing one.
Then a couple of weeks ago i brought an Samsung watch that goes with my mobile,i quite like it,and can answer my phone on the go :)

it was £300, thought that was reasonable given the brand and the quality

it's completely mechanical too, I have to wind it up twice a day ha ha

I meant the watch as much as the price.. expensive watch rather than expensive price to pay for said watch.. if that makes sense.. does look nice.. I have bought and run cars for less :)
 
Tell me about it! When I inherited Dad's watch it needed a service - I can have my car done for 3 or 4 years for what the watch's service cost me! (Mind you, the watch won't need tyres...)

It's impossible for me to check my phone... I don't have one.

This makes the watch infinitely easier!

I'm 41 and havent worn a watch in years - theres clocks in the car, clock on the computer, clock on my phone (which also has an alarm function for apointments etc) , i don't really need a watch
 
When I was about ten, my aunt gave me her Mickey Mouse watch. It was the best watch I ever had... until it broke.

think im due a new one soon.. got a bit of a scratch on the glass and ive had it for a couple of years now.. about time my OH treated me to something!
 
I have umpteen ways to tell the time but still feel completely lost without a watch. Got 2 'good' watches and 3 day watches, I mostly wear a £25 Timex (sorry Dundee).

I've got a backwards clock on my living room wall. It confuses the hell out of everyone that looks at it to see what the time is. :ROFLMAO:

That's the problem with "Mickey mouse" goods, they do that :D

I've not worn a watch for god knows how many years,
I find it gets in the way TBH.
 
Have worn a watch for almost the last last 60 years, so I'm not going to break the habit now.

In any case, I like wearing a watch, and like being able to see the time with just a 'flick of the wrist', as opposed to getting the mobile out of my pocket.

My wife also wears a watch too, but none of my kids, or grandchildren do, so yes, perhaps it is a generation thing.

As an ex scuba-diver (too old now :)), I still have my 'Ocean Diver' watch, with it's elapsed time bezel, which I bought back in the 70's. No battery, but just plain automatic, it still works fine, and is still water-tight. Albeit I have an ordinary 'everyday' watch.

On the subject of divers watches, I always think it amusing that some people wear them as some sort of 'sporting badge', when they have probably never ventured further than their bath tub. :LOL:

I have a few divers watches. I've never gone diving in my life or intend to, I just like the look of them.

I also own several knifes and rifles, but I don't intend on killing anyone... Again, I like the look of them.

I love a nice watch and always wear one, it feels strange not to. My day revolves around being in the right place at the right time and I find checking my watch is much quicker and easier than checking my phone, especially as I often have my hands full.
At last count though I had 17 watches which is probably too many! :)
 
I have three watches and would feel lost without one on my wrist. Not sure it is a generation thing as my 18 year old has four watches and always wears one when out
 
I like a nice watch and tend to change what I'm wearing to the occasion. For example a larger seamaster style with stainless band with a suit doesn't go well for me. Heck a nice double cuffed shirt doesn't go over it thus pushing the shirt up and having the watch on show. Not good. Much better to have a nice flat leather strapped dress watch for that. Likewise some other let's call them investment/heritage piece I've become highly aware off I only wear them privately.

I tend to take my watch off at my desk, I find it interferes with computer work on the keyboard.

Maybe i should get some Google glasses so I can always see the time.

In my youth, I lived in a shared house and we had two clocks on the wall (and a penchant for mind fnerking!) One clock was a normal clock with a mirror underneath it and the other was a backwards clock. The ultimate mind fnerk was when I swapped the movements over so the normal clock ran backwards and t'other didn't. To add to the effect, the forward running backwards clock was visible in the mirror beneath the backwards running normal clock. After a (let's call it) drink or two, minds span!

I always used to wear a watch but now never bother ... time is always available on my mobile.

A reasonable amount of time, i think. Can't be sure though... It must have been almost 30 years ago!
 
The last time I wore a watch was when I was 20 years old - and I'm 47. Time is all around us, but then again, I hardly ever do any travelling and if I want to know the time I just look at the stars (or the sun during the day). :D :rolleyes: :p
 
Last time I was in the East End someone said "have you got the time on you Cock", I said no, "I've got one on my wrist though. !"
 
I remember in the days of watches that I had a habit of keeping my watch in my pocket - i've never been keen on having things round my wrist I guess!
 
iv'e always worn a watch still got a few of my older watches stuck in a drawer somewhere
i prefer a nice analogue automatic watch just put it on my wrist and forget about it, no batteries to change no winding the thing up something that just tells the time

works for me :)

i do think it's a bit of a generation thing in my family only one of my sons wear a watch it's a nice watch ( tag Heuer genuine not a copy ) which was given to him as a xmas present by a female stalker ( i kid you not ) a few years ago
i half expected him to sell it but he's hung on to it and wears it which suprised me considering the circumstance

Rolex Datejust for me i'm 44 and used to wear Seiko when I was a kid, then I owned a few Oris then my wife treated me to this one for my 40th birthday.
Must admit I now own 3x Rolex watches and would not go back, wonderfully made, and hold there value, I guess some people would equate it to driving a luxury car for free.

 
My watch has a glow in the dark luminous face. Sometimes I forget to take it off when loading a film in a changing bag...

Ooh, nice collection, I see I've some work to do to catch up :) Mixture of orient, seiko, omega and the two plastic things which are great for holidays :)
