Will using an adapter slow down the card?

Yes
I've just ordered an Olympus XZ-1 and have realised I have no SD memory cards! So I'm frantically searching for the best deal on SDHC Class 10s, probably 8GB. I want to stick with brands I've used before and trust, i.e. Sandisk, Lexar or Samsung.

I've found a microSD card, on Amazon, from Samsung and it's £1 cheaper than the SD version. I know it's only £1, but look after the pennies...

Anyway, is there any reason why I shouldn't go down this road? Will using the adapter effect read/write speeds?

I'm also thinking that when the time comes to upgrade camera/memory, a mSD with adapater will offer more options with future devices.

I don't think an adapter will slow the card as it shouldn't have any elecronics in it but microSD cards tend to be slower than standard SDHC cards. I wouldn't buy anything less than class 6 and the majority of MicroSD seem to be class 4. Buying a cheap card isn't really saving the pennies.

I comparing class 10 on each.

I'm cheap, so I ordered the mSD. So we'll soon see...
