I want to use my PS3 for games on my computer screen, which has DVI and VGA inputs. I can get hold of the cables easily (and cheaply) enough, I just need to know if it is likely to work before spending any dough!

(btw, the red/white/yellow leads are supposed to be phono connector whatsits, I just got lazy and copied the green 3.5mm jack 3 times, then re-coloured them :o)

Cheers dudes!

Looks like a plan to me. Just try turning up the volume slowly.

You won't find out till you try it but there might be a problem with video/audio sync, depending on whether the monitor/speakers are doing any processing.

As steep said, you should get audio and video fine but synchronisation may be off.

something is telling me that you cant use av out and hdmi at the same time , i cant check as i have a slim ps3 now not a fat one

With a PS3 it will only (I think) allow one output, so either HDMI or AV out, PS3 will look to the optical out when connected to HDMI

does your TV have headphone socket or something similar to connect your speakers?

No sir, it's a computer monitor with video inputs only.

My speakers don't have an optical input either. Might buy some new speakers as well as a decent screen, lol
