Come on peeps, cheer me up. It is bouncing down and it was last night when I attended the rehearsal for tomorrow's wedding.:'(

I have been practising with my TP waterproof camera and lens sleeves and the cuffs are a bit tight around the front end of the 24-105mm L and won't zoom all the way.

Rain, Rain - I took today off to prepare and I am dreading it if it is wet. The little White chapel up in the Welsh hills is straight out onto the lane which is the width of 2 cars. What am I going to do with everyone if it RAINS!!! They particularly asked for most of the shots outside the chapel and not at the reception.

Any ideas, as I am slowly sinking into depression this afternoon. My last wedding (some of you may remember) was similar conditions and the red carpet was rolled out to the limo and just floated to the bride's feet as she tried to step out of the car. My 17-40mm L lens packed up due to the humidity.

Oh, I am going to make a cuppa tea and sandwich.:help:

Its going to rain! Then its going to clear up just in time for the wedding, with god rays shining through the thunder clouds to give you stunning light as a backdrop to your shots. The mornings rain will also help to saturate the colours. By the afternoon though, it will be nice and bright(But not so bright as to cause difficulties for you). the evening will finsih off with the best sunset you have ever seen! Good luck btw.

I once did weddings on three consecutive Saturdays in torrential rain - nightmare tbh. The one in particular, the rain was bouncing 3 feet off the pavement outside the church and the bride's dress was like a wick soaking up the water from the bottom!

The first thing is don't panic!! There's two ways you can tackle this situation depending on how bad the rain is.

1. Make it a fun feature of the wedding with everyone holding brollies in the shots - the more colourful the better.

2. Worst case scenario - you may have to take all the shots indoors - either at the church (if there's no wedding immediately following on yours) or at the reception venue.

People are very understanding of the difficulties you face when the weather is against you, so just stay adaptable, resourceful and do the very best you can. :) Whatever you do - keep the gear dry - electronic cameras don't need too much water to pack up on you.

It's actually good experience, but it's hard to appreciate that at the time. :D

Fingers crossed for you Gilly, but whatever you do be prepared for rain.

Watereproof covers on the camera are OK but they can cause condensation difficulties which are almost as bad as the camera getting wet. Jan used to come with me on wet days and hold a huge golfing umbrella over the camera while she usually got drowned.:D

If you don't have someone to hold the brolly for you - press someone into service on the day. Tell the best man it's part of his duties. If he can't take a joke he shoudn't have taken the job.

Aw! that's cheered me up MK. Are you a practising motivator? - Could do with you in work:lol:

I have 2 golf size translucent brollies which I always keep to hand. I know, I know CT, it is all experience at the end of the day.

Just read your last post. Interesting about the covers - I wouldn't have thought of condensation

Karen, hope your Gran's saying is true as the service is at 11:00

Thanks Gillian

good idea about having a large number of matching brollies to use as 'props' should the need arrise, and they could be used in the future (Consider them an investment!!)

Hmmm, I hadn't thought of bringing them myself. I must have about 5 or six golf size bright ones - I get them out ready to pack now. Thanks CMT - Brollies I'm talking about, tsk, tsk:nuts:

PS, you feel free to get them out ready, don't mind us!! :p :p   :D :D

I thought it always rained in Wales.

Not wishing to dampen anyone'es spirit, but it's been rainign in South Wales for what seems like 10 days ....

Stop it! Stop it!... I've only just calmed down. In the hallway, I now have 7 Golf brollies of all colours as well as the White ones.

This wee Chapel is in the mountains in a hamlet called Aberhosan, which is near to Machynlleth. To get to it, from my place you have to drive through the clouds and pass Clywedog Dam. Coming home from the rehearsal last night, the only photo I stopped to take was a Rainbow against a black sky.

Anyway, think positive. Karen's Gran used to say "rain before 7 dry by 11". That'll do.

My old gran used to say rain before seven dry by eleven  as CT says it depends on the degree of rain, brollies can be fun, I keep white ones in the boot for these occasions. Good luck

White? Surely 18% grey brollies are better ;) Also, you could put your url in your sig to save you typing it out every time.

Hope it goes very well - It's not raining :)

CT's brolly idea is great, phone the family and get them to bring lots as well, a massed brolly shot might be just the thing.

I'm here!

Aw it's soooo nice to put my computer on and see all your posts. Thanks Guys.

Messiah Khan - it worked! - NO RAIN Yippeeee!

It was a lovely dull day which brightened up by late afternoon and then chucked it down from 9pm onwards - by then, nobody cared.

I didn't get home until 11:30 pm and hubby unloaded the car as I slid into a bath and then straight to bed - No that's right, didn't even switch on the computer. I am going start uploading them now onto my PC, but thought I must put you all out of your misery

I uploaded some onto my lappy in between the reception and the night do, so I have an idea what they are like and will post a few later for C&C. I will start a new thread for that and also questions on online posting which I have been putting off until guests approached me yesterday for the details. I must get into the 21st century. So I may need your expertise guys to help out there. Wait for the thread though, otherwise the Admin bods will ban me or something 'orrible.

Thanks again Guys - Gillian  :D

PS: Karen - your dear old Gran was right about the weather timings!!!
