Will i need a film camera for A level photography?

I think it very much depends on the course, so something you need to check on. Some courses will place a higher emphasis on film than others.

if you do need a film camera i have a canon t90 with six or so lens plus flashes ect ect

I think you do. I did A Level and you need to use film and do your own developing and printing. Unless it is digital specific course, I cannot see this having changed, but I would check. I did mine with a Nikon f60.

I will have to ask about that at my interview next week.
I was thinking of going Nikon for compatability since i already have a D200 and a lens that would work on film.

What do you think of the F60? It is reaaaallly cheap compared to some i was looking at.

go to a car booty, i picked a bx50 or something for 15 squid with 35 - 70 lens or somethin 2.8 throughout !

The F60 did me fine. I got most of my earlier work on that. It was just very tricky printing it in the darkroom I set up in my ex's bathroom, lol.

I also had a practica before that, which did me some of my best sunsets actually.

nikon f90x is meant to be one of the better film cameras, but the f60 served its purpose. No point spending a fortune on a film body, as it truly is the lenses that matter in this case, moreso than in digital considering the controls are more basic.

I'm currently doing A-level photography, however i would of thought you would be fine with just your digital camera as some people on our course did their whole project in digital.

Should you need a film camera then i would of thought that the school would be able to lend you a film camera, although their extremely cheap off ebay now days. But best to ask anyway

Just grab a Nikon 35mm body off ebay as suggested that will take your current lenses!

Im doing a BTEC National Diploma in photography and we all use Pentax K-1000 cameras which is where a lot of photographers cut their teeth. You cant go wrong with one of these

This is quoted in the link you sent.

Students will be expected to buy their own sketchbooks,
SLR camera, film and photographic paper. In some
cases, cameras may be available to borrow.

So looks like you will need a film camera.

My son is doing a Photographic degree at Uni and he needed a Film camera for the first 3 months work...so I would guess you do;)..he used my F55 Nikon with 28-100mm lens ..:clap:

I did the course and used a Canon AE-1P,but we only had to do black and white printing

If you don't use film, it is likely you won't be able to get above a C - you need to show a variation in mediums, and I'm pretty sure this is the same regardless of the examining body.
So yeah, get a film body.
It is likely you'll fall in love with shooting film ;)

Thanks for the replies everyone.
This pay day i will buy a film body.
