Will I lose quality using a low spec SD card ?

Hello all,
I decided to dig out my little used Kodak Bridge camera , As I only had an old 2Gb SD card I've been forced to use that until I'm able to get a better one. I have to take time between shots otherwise it corrupts the image because of slow write speed but I wondered if I may be losing quality as well, if so my little test may be pointless !

You’ll be able to tell when you copy the images to computer. If they are complete and open correctly then there’s no quality problem. Errors from data writing problems I’ve seen look like large blocks of the image glitched or missing a color. If that has happened without another card to test it’s hard to say if the error is the camera or the card.

Providing both camera and card are working correctly, there's no reason why it should lose quality, it will just be slow to write to and read from (as you've discovered). :)

I just buy SD cards from Tesco. You can get a large high speed San Disk card for a few quid. They work fine in my 7dMkII

That's exactley what I would do under normal circumstances, but having just had reconstructve surgery on my shoulder I'm unable to drive and live out in the sticks about 8 miles from my nearest town or most likely 12 or more from one where I could get a card from hence the waiting for one to be delivered. I'm getting either half an image with the rest being grey or a .jpg but with no image to display ( if I go too fast that is) I haven't used this camera for ages and didn't use it much when I brought it to be honest so was unsure what to expect.

I think current SD cards, especially HC and XC variants, might not work well on the older bridge cameras. Maybe suggest Brad puts a request in 'Wanted' for old style 4Gb cards for the price of a postage stamp (sorry, all I have are SDHC 16GBs)....

None of that is normal. I'd try swapping the card and hopefully that'll sort it.

Hoping you get well soon.

I have some old cards upstairs so if there's any question over Brad's new card I'll take a look at what I have, ask on here if people think one will work and happily post it off no charge.

Thanks Alan your offer is really apprreciated but in theory the new card should arrive today or tomorrow !

NO:

The card saves 0s and 1s, there is no such thing as a better 0 or a better 1,

If you want one off me zap me a pm, I'll see that, I can then post the spec and see if people think it'll help.
