I was just browsing the Jessops site looking for a new wide angle and stumbled across maybe the deal of the day!!

A Sigma 20mm f1.8 EX DG Asp RF Nikon AF for £149!!!!!!

Needless to say I ordered it, but this is were it gets weird...They took payment and I have recieved my acknowledgement email...BUT...the lens has entirely dissappeared off the site

Was it a cockup? Just weird that it vanished so quickly!!! Will I get it? I certainly hope so at that price :) (but i'll not hold my breath!)

they had a lens on there about a month ago priced at £23k, went to show a friend the next day and the thing had disappeared off the site completely :(

Jessops have a history of not honouring pricing mistakes on their website.

As long as load of other people haven't bought one at that price, then they may honour it. I have found that it just takes a few orders, usually following somebody posting the price on t'internet, and it becomes too big a loss. If it just one you may be lucky.

I'm afraid I beg to differ - I spotted an HP 9180 A3 printer last year at a third of usual best price and placed an order, not holding out much hope especially when told it e=was on back order, but it arrived within a week:)

Elaine, you've had better luck than me then.. several times I've seen a price that was too good to miss and the order has been cancelled after being accepted.

With Sigma lenses their track record is even worse than for general pricing errors. Jessops are repeat offenders for posting spoiler prices that when you go through the website are neither available to order online or in-store.

How ironic ? I while ago I saw the very same lens Sigma 20mm f/1.8 for £199; bought it and took delivery of it from Jessops in Cardiff. This was at a time when this lens was selling for £300 in all other stores; even CPB had it cheapest for £300 at the time. So, I guess I was lucky.

I eventually sold it to another forum member (along with a slim Helliopan CP) for the very same price I paid for these two items. It was a very good bargain

It could be that it is old stock they are trying to get rid of. Because I don,t think they sell Sigma lenses now.

They maybe only had the one and it could be good news that it disappeared off the website. It would be better than those who advertise things and may not tell you it is out of stock until after you've paid. :suspect:

think you may be right as i've just checked my order history and it's vanished...no email from them though :(

edit: although i've just tried "track your order" when i put in the order number from the email it's showing as on back order ....see what happens

You'll get it! It's an offer not a mistake.
I was searching for a Lowepro Classified 160 bag a couple of weeks ago, when I saw it on Jessops website for £20...it's usually £89!
I placed the order and it went through. I got a tracking number and it was on back order for about 8-10 days before it was sent.

In most cases the order is not "accepted" and a contract put in place until the goods are dispatched:

"Acceptance of your order and the formation of a contract between us will take place when the goods you have ordered have been despatched to you, unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order or you have cancelled it in accordance with our cancellation and returns policy.

We reserve the right to not to supply goods and to cancel your order in the event of a pricing error or omission"

Jessop's Ts & Cs

well, I mailed them today and was told it was being processed and should be shipped tomorrow (whether they are just fobbing me off I dont know, but...), the order has reappearred on my account page, the "back order" has now changed to "being processed" so theres hope yet, although until (IF!) it lands on my doorstep i'm not getting too excited...

hehehe....'tis a happy morning in the antihero household :)

Well done, a great bargain.

Now less shots of the glass, and more shots through the glass please :D

Congratulations, now that was a bargain to celebrate

Yes I know - I just meant you've made a huge saving, £149 is 28.1% of current price. Crikey!!!

Sorry! :), stuff like this doesn't normally happen to me and i'm amazed they honoured it! Can't wait to get out and use it :)

Maybe they had one they had to sell quickly (to get more stock perhaps) - i.e. it's not a website pricing mistake.

Where did you come across this bargain, was it in the lens section or some "hidden" area of the site.

Great find and congratulations, you practically stole it from them

most camera shops still charge £300+ for a 2nd hand version of this.

Some bargain!

I was just searching through the Sigma lenses, narrowed it down to "wide angle" and it was there...all the other fittings were £529, but the Nikon fit was showing as £149!!! my jaw nearly hit the floor!!

I ordered it straight away, then logged on here to tell you guys about it, then went back to the Jessops site to get the link for the page and it had vanished off the site altogether!!

Looks like I was lucky though, as Alastair said they often cock-up on prices but never usually honour it...

:)
