As my questions may show i aint bought a DLSR yet. lol. if i get the 18-55m kit lens on the canon range will i feel restricted and want more of a zoom straight away?

prices wise it differs like this.

standard 450d above lens is £487

and the twin lens kit 450d above lens and 55-250mm IS is £636

£149 difference.

thanks for the advice i have made my mind up about the purchase just can't make my mind up about the 1 lens or 2 lens kits,

I have the 300D with the twin lens kit, I think the second lens might be different in mine (55-200) but I find I use this lens alot... yes its a difference of £149 but what other lens will you get with that range for that price? obviously if you were willing to you could buy the single lens kit and spend that 149 on a second hand lens...

although I have taken what I believe to be some pretty good shots with both kit lens's and I think as a beginner they are an excellent introduction... further down the line you will want to upgrade your lens's but these will do as a start... have a look at my flickr, the renault world series ones were shot on my 300D with the longer kit lens.

You need to ask yourself what kind of photography you want to do, for example if your going to shoot wildlife then the zoom lens would be the way to go. If you want to shoot landscapes then you would want a wider lens.

If you have the money to get the twin then I would get it, it will cover a good focal range, as Creed said, you won't get another lens in that price range.

If you've got the money, go for the twin lens kit, the 55-250 IS is a bloody good lens for the money and will keep you happy for ages.

Just bought a 450d a few short months ago and soon after was looking a new lens so go for the twin lens package if you can. I ened up buying the 55-250 and it cost more than £150!

The 55-250-IS is a good lens for the money.
£149 is also a very good price for it as well.
You'll soon find something you will want to zoom for a closer shot.
