Will fox hunting be legal again?

Fox hunting should be legalised again but those who want to take part MUST take their turn at being the fox.

So, if we go back two hundred years all the wealth would have been held by the local Lord and the population would have either been servants or factors of production through which the Lords would have enriched themselves.

What would your role have been Steve do you think?

Rather than enrich my local laird/toff I enrich some faceless suit in a corporation who is consistently is referred to as "the business".

At least in the old way the fruits of my productivity would have been kept in the local community and I'd have a job for life. These days my jobs not for life and the fruits of my labour enrich "head office".

Yep, olde days for me.

I don't. Shooting, fishing, hunting, bull fighting are all excellent worthy pursuits IMHO.
My mate goes grouse and pheasant shooting. It's fun and the proceeds make for an excellent casserole.

Your opinion is not reflected across the UK. You also cannot really compare hunting and bull fighting to shooting and fishing. The former are always long drawn out kills which take no regard for the wellbeing of an animal, the latter are largely much quicker and with much less stress.

I can't imagine you would enjoy a fox casserole.

I think as pest control hunting with dogs is valid and a vote on the matter is the best thing.

Hunting with dogs is nothing to do with pest control. It's a sport.

Pest control is about a) using the most effective and humane tool for the job and b) controlling pests. The traditional hunts may claim to do this but I can say with fair knowledge that a few hours, some local knowledge and a 22-250 will be a far more effective method than a pack of dogs and another pack of horses. It will also cause significantly less damage to property and is as humane as pest control can get.

It sends out a message, it's emblematic of the aristocracy. There should be no place for fox hunting with dogs in modern society, it belongs with hare coursing and cock fighting etc, firmly in the past.

So what about fishing? How humane is being hooked, handled out of water, and then repeated again? Oh I forgot, while fishing is often a lower class sport hunting is an upper class one so let's ban it. If there was any consistency, fishing and fix hunting should both be banned or allowed. The fox ban was simply a class war.

I agree with ST4. I hope it gets a positive vote. It looks fun with all the ingredients that I like; hourses, hounds, country side. It looks fun. I would like to give it a go.

Which is why it will never be banned.
I believe a Bill was proposed to Parliament but it got turned down.
Be honest the ban never was about the animals it was always a political move

I like horses - they're delicious.

ANY killing for fun is wrong IMO.

I know more farmers (sheep breeders) who are against fox hunting than who are for it.

As a child, we had an enforced day of "fun" every year when the meet congregated in the school courtyard and we had to follow the hunt on foot. Lovely to see a load of 7-13 year olds struggling after a bunch of aerosols on horses whose idea of fun was to have the bloody stump of a dead fox's tail wiped across some kid's face.

Whoever described fox hunting as the "unspeakable in pursuit of the inedible" had it right.

Ah you are no fun. Given the chance anything else alive would hunt and kill us as well.

Opinions differ, but I've got no problem with it at all. I'm just glad there are people who are willing to take the difficult decisions in life.

Ps. I do like horse meat as well. Yummy

Coarse fishing maybe, but trout and Salmon fishing are a totally different kettle of ... erm .... fish.

If I reply to this properly I'll get banned :(
I'm prepared to risk it if you are?
:D

Just call him a clueless wind up merchant and be done with it. He's a t***.

It's crazy that a forum supports someone like ST4 who has pretty much boasted about being banned for winding up members of other forums.

Takes bloody good landscapes though ;)

Do you think the aristocracy belong firmly in the past too?
You do surely?

Just last week you were telling us all how people should only be entitled to what they earn. That there should be some kind of meritocracy where the hard working rise to the top.

Clearly an 'aristocracy' is the opposite of that.

We tend to be more lenient on a Friday TBH :D

I'll have a go

Last week the forum was a pleasure to be around, it felt great to be here and the threads were fun to partake in

Today that changed, threads took on a horrible atmosphere, they became horrible to partake in, why? all down to the return of one member and there divisive & antagonistic manner

Was that too polite?

Or shall I just shoot the nob? in the face!

I totally agree and even made a positive contribution this week as a result of the more pleasant aura ... I may not make another one.

Your contribution this week is rather negative and pointless. Stay focused or please stay OUT and AWAY.

As funny as it (presumably) is, it is probably a bit politically wrong and may also violate a copyright or two.

I wouldn't say the forum supports any individual but allows difference of opinions to be expressed. Surly everyone is entitled to their own opinion including ST4.

I find many people on here very rude, argumentative and self opinionated, as I do in every day life. Do I let these people bother me? No!

I bet you have no idea what I've contributed this week, which makes your post pointless. Just wanting to stick up for your buddy.

Apparently we are not allowed to name call on this forum, yet ST4 generally puts down anyone that doesn't hold his view of the world with childish labels. To allow that in my view is supporting his view.

Pretty sure you could trawl through his posts at your leisure without finding him calling someone a t*** in a fit of pique though.

a fit of pique, my arse

anyway, lets not make this about ST4 (i didn't make the first comment by the way) .... let us return to a reminder of what he has already told about his view on fox hunting, which he has posted several times in the past and what he thinks of people that don't agree with him

Everyone knows that the best way to control fox numbers is to put upper class tw*ts in red coats and chase then all over the countryside on horseback (sarcasm).

Steve,

You do surely?

No. Wealth has been inherited and the income it generates is subject to income tax. I'm against any form of IHT. It's a basic aspiration to leave property and assets to your ancestors. Essentially that's the aristocracy, leaving massive country piles to the next generation and lovely purdey shotguns to go shooting with.

Steve,

Are upperclass people tw*ts? If so, why?

It's comments like this in this tone that make me believe the fox hunting ban was an attack on the upper classes.

It was a class war (I am not trying to wind anyone up), whenever it is discussed its about a bunch of toffs etc etc.

We cant blame cruelty or lots of things would be banned, like Halal meat for a start, but it wasnt about cruelty, it was about a country sport and class.

If it's not about cruelty, and all about class, then let's ban Showjumping....not many non upper class folks in the top flight there. Or three day eventing. Or competitive yachting.

It was class war through and through, upper class toffs looking down on the poor commoners from their high and mighty position on their horses.
