Will a CPL filter UV?

Silly question alert.

I'm heading up Kilimanjaro and I don't own any UV filters but I do have a CPL (which I'd probably be using for it's effect anyway), will it double as a UV filter?

edit: BTW, the CPL is just a Jessops made in Japan jobbie.

A cpl will cut out uv below 350nm because most glass does anyway. However, you will get more uv at high altitude and if you are doing landscape shots may need a specific quality haze filter which are better than most uv filters. Some cheap uv filters are pretty much just glass anyway. Why take the cpl? There aren't going to be a lot of flat surfaces for polarised reflections up there, I would guess.
Anyway, have fun and don't run out of batteries or cards at the top!

Thanks :)

Main camera is a D700, for which I've got 5 batteries so should be ok :D

I'm also taking a FM2n + 50mm just for a bit of film fun and I love the way film does snow and clouds (thought I'd use the CPL to darken the sky a bit).
