No
Have just taken delivery of a BG-E13 from Wilkinson Cameras, who proudly state on their website that all their products are UK stock and not grey imports.

Upon opening the box, the first thing I see is a warranty leaflet for the US/Canada rather than the UK.

This certainly suggests to me that the item is indeed a grey import.

I've mailed them asking for clarification but wondered if anyone else had had any similar experiences from Wilkinson?

Might just be a boxing error at the factory. Only way to be 100% sure is to contact the manufacturer with the serial number.

I'll wait to see what Wilkinson say first I think.

Can't really see the point of this thread. Until there is some clarification from Wilkinsons then this just amounts to scaremongering. The thread would be better on Twitbook.

I was just asking if anyone else had had a similar experience.

I've now had a response from them, assuring me that all their products are purchased through Canon UK channels and that it must have been a mistake at the factory, either mis-routing the item to the UK instead of the US/Canada or even just placing the wrong warranty leaflet inside the box. They've said that they'll honour the warranty in any case.

So, to summarise, it's still possible that this is effectively a "grey import", even if it's not actually the fault of Wilkinsons themselves. As they've clarified the warranty situation I'll obviously hang onto it rather than return it.

I've updated the thread title to clarify the situation

It's not a grey import if it has been supplied via canon UK , even if its the wrong country stock etc.

Well no, if it was sourced via Canon UK then, by definition it's not a grey import, only issue is whether there'd be warranty issues down the line if it was actually intended for another market and Canon screwed up as the serial number could flag it up as a "US market item". As long as Wilkinsons say they'll cover the warranty regardless plus I have my communication with them recorded for future reference, it's all good :)

Send it back, you havent been sold what you thought you were buying. but you dont need a reason within 14 days anyway

This is why I suggested to contact Canon. I'm not saying Wilkinson are selling grey imports, but if they were, this is the response you would have got from them!

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. But if you want peace of mind, go back to the manufacturer.

Yeah as long as I have valid warranty coverage then I don't really care - the product is the same. Plus I don't have time to return it for a replacement as I need it this weekend.
