Wildlife Togs.

Decided on a permanant spot for the timber hide Charlie. Considered lots of option and have decided to place within easy access for people who want to use it.So it is going in the wood on the non shooting estate.

Am I better off getting some 6x6 tanalized timber to place it on?

I would be inclined to set concrete blocks on the ground & then set 8x4s on top of them. I used three 12x6s but that might be a bit over the top!.
Try to get some old railway sleepers 10x5s will be fine.
Hope you & your guests have many happy hours in the hide.

I gave a meal to some sort of biting insect on Friday evening. Spent the weekend with a very sore, swollen hand and wrist. The rash went as far as my elbow and affected the muscles in my forearm :(

Oh, and member of SWT :)

When the insects take over the earth I hope they'll remember how we all used to share our picnics with them.

Managed to find some old sleepers mate, Gary and I are going to erect the hide this weekend.

This is the view from the front of the hide.

Bird feeding station in the foreground for little birds, the old stump at the far end will have goodies for the roe deer scattered about it, table midway for jays and other largish birds and i`m going to build an artificial stoat friendly place just to the right next to the rhodies.

And it is not a long walk for some of my guests, indeed some of them can be driven right to the door.............:D

Would that be the same kind man who is about to donate to The Loch of the Lowes some timber for making Red Squirrel feeders. Once I have had a look at what they actually want!
Oh & you need to buy more firewood cause what you bought last year did not keep the reds in the manner to which they have become accustomed for very long. Just teasing by the way.;)

Funny you should say that mate i was thinking i might have to stock up the shed :lol:

Regular charitable donations to the David Shepherd Foundation & Sussex Wildlife trust.

Have carried food & supplies to Rhino protection groups in Zimbabwe.

When visiting Mana Pools (off again next Thursday - woo-hoo!!!) always try to take something useful for the good folks in the Parks office.
