Hello all,

I have just moved into Nottingham and was wondering where you would recommend nearby for wildlife photography?

Thanks everyone!

bit of a trek (probably 30mins from notts?), but there's loads (among other things) of deer at bradgate park (near loughborough), cool castle and quite nice landscape too

attenborough nature res, beeston.

deer at wollerton hall.

Agree with Attenborough (gravel pits) and Wollaton Hall both are good locations for wildlife, Wollaton Hall also has a lake which has a (45min) walk all the way around..
as already pointed the Hall also contains a deer park. (some great shots to be had there)

Of the two I would plump for Wollaton Hall (`pay & display` parking).. although they are only about three miles apart...so why not do um together..!!! Kind Regards Gordon...

Lovely! Having seen a few threads on this site but never posted one I knew you would not let me down :)

Gordon, I like your style, I shall definitely try both Attenborough and Wollaton, and Bradgate park (thanks for that one itsdavedotnet!)

I am also pretty mobile so if anyone has any suggestions of anywhere else within about an hours drive I would be very greatful :)

Thanks once again

Wollaton hall is good for the Deer - but get there early and park near the hall - they tend to be in the woods then making for more natural shots.

I prefer Attenborough as you get a much wider variety of wildlife and you can easily get away from people if you want to.

Both places get a lot of visitors as the day moves on so getting there early makes a difference (And of course the light is nicer too :) )

attenborough (nice hides too) and wollaton as above
then lots of swans and the usual along the river
there is a random nature walk area on the way to ruddington too iirc

I live in Beeston so got to Attenborough all the time. Great place to take some shots.

Which side of Nottingham are you on plxpwm?

I'm thinking a meet at either Attenborough or Wollaton may be worth doing...

Personally I think Attenborough in a morning because you can pile into the cafe once you've had a stroll round for coffee & bacon sarnies / cake. :)
