I'm travelling to the states mid sept and have 9 days to travel around these parks.

My main interest is wildlife but I'd be interested in a few landscape suggestions as well.

Much appreciated!!

+1 on both these locations- Lots of wildlife, especially in Yellowstone. Good scenery including thermal activity in Yellowstone and great scenery, mountains and lakes, in the Grand Tetons. Be sure to spend a bit of time do some walks. From personal experience Cascade Canyon, in the grand Tetons, is a good walk.
We were lucky enough to have a week or so in that area a few years ago, as part of a larger vacation.

Thanks, I just bought a 1.4 converter for my 300mm lens. Not quite as long as I'd like but I was afraid of fuzzy images with a 2x. Thanks for the advice!

Unless you are shooting mountain goats a 300mm lens will be ok for a lot of the wildlife.
I had a 75-300 ( along with a 17-85) on a crop camera it mostly meet my needs as a tourist.

Some examples (no exif data availabe for most of the pics)

#1 Shot by my wife with the 17-85 from the car window whilst we were held up in traffic. Pic has been cropped.

#2 This is at the start of the beaver ponds trail (Mammoth hot springs) . Again shot by my wife with her P&S (Canon A700)

#3 Same time and location as above. (my photograph with the 17-85)

#4 In our hotel grounds at Mammoth. The 75-300 lens was used for this (part of a series)

#5 In Cascade Canyon (Grand Tetons NP) - Again the 75-300 (at 255mm).

If I was lucky enough to revisit the parks (it won't happen) I would take my 100-400 lens.

The Lamar valley on the road to the North east entrance, is probably the best place to see bear. But get there early.
