I'm sure there must be loads of TP members who have been to this place.

What gear would you advise taking? What sort of focal length (on a cropsensor DSLR)? Any particular need for a fast lens? etc.

All help appreciated.

Me! Do I count as gear?

When I went I took, and used 10-22, 24-70 and 70-200. Now I have a 100-400 I will probably take that as well if it is a bright day when I go back again.

It is easy to go back to the car to get something else rather than carry a bag around with you if that is any help?

I`d take two bodies, one with a short lens, and one with a telephoto on.

I`ve used my 70-200 and 28-70 plus last time my 10-20 with some funny results.

I love it there.

Sorry to butt in on this thread:( . But can anyone visit this place ???. As Last time I asked them, I was told that members of the public, were not allowed. Only asking because myself and my wife would love to visit the place.

They run photo days and I think they are shown on the website these are the only times unless you want to pay to be a keeper for the day.

With regards to what lenses, I at the time only had a fuji finepix 5700 thingy check my website and my WHF pics are on there so you can see you dont need to really panic what you take or not, its a fantastic place. You are never further than 5 mins from your car so you can pop back if you need another lens!

At the end of the day you can wander from enclosure to enclosure and then get shots you missed during the day.

Id love to go back - very happy memories!

There are going to be a few Talk Photography days down at the WHF again this year.

Five days are booked at the moment with the possibility of getting more.

Just waiting for DF to pull his finger out ... :D

well tell him to bloody hurry up, I want in!!

Stewart, I took and used the 120-300 and the 18-70 but as Christine said, the set up of th eplace is such that you really can take all your kit and leave it in the car, returning to grab stuff as you need it.

Take everything.......the car is always in sight and very easy to pop to and change things if you need to. I usually have one body (Canon 400D) with the 24-105mm and a second body (Canon 40D) with the 70-20mm attached. I also took my 100-400mm but found it too long sometimes.........you really do get up close and personal with those cats!!

I agree that a really wide angle can be fun too.

took the 70-200 when i went, a fantastic day out

i used the 600 a couple of times :))

And we have the photo to prove it ... :D

Was a bit of a surprise to find that you did not have a french accent ....

You hear all sorts of rumours on this forum ... :D

And me :lol::lol::lol:

I live about 3 miles from this place and have never been. I should get over there though but can never get in.

Stewart, if you have a 24-105 and a 100-400 you're perfectly set up for every shot you could ever want to take there  Don't listen to Ian, he only uses his 600 to club them with to get them to keep still ;)

As others have said, you park up so close to the enclosures that you can keep popping back to the car with no problem.

Fantastic place to visit :)

Come on DF
