Back again, thank you for the suggestion about the previous problem, had got a cable but wondered if there were any other causes.

On to the next problem. In certain rooms in the flat the wifi is terrible and keeps dropping out.

I tried the plugs before but didn't work (think more to user error than kit), as at the time, didn't realise it needed to be directly into the plug socket and not in an extension.

I am thinking about one of the plug systems that allows you to put a plug into it, the 2nd plug in the room with the issues and then running an ethernet cable from the plug to either a network switch port (not best as means more cables) or if i can, running the ethernet into a 2nd router? Is that the correct way?

Ideally cable is the way to go, but if i can make a wifi hotspot for that room, it would be great.

TIA

Something like THESE will do the trick - I use the 500mbps version to connect between my office and home and they work brilliantly. Depends on how many you need/what speed as to whether it's economical.

Thanks Gramps,

That is what i had before but think it was my own fault, that i couldn't get it working, due to how i had them plugged in.

We need 1 possibly 2 connections in the bedroom, that is why i thought the plugs and then put the ethernet into the network switch (is that the correct bit of kit to use?)

I have my wireless router in the house and it is connected to the mains wiring (socket) via one of these adapters and cable - in the office another adapter is connected to a socket and then via cable to a network switch, the 5 devices connected to the switch work fine and there is practically no loss of speed to the PC's.

Don't know if it helps or who your ISP is. I had similar problems. I'm with Sky, I had the old 54g type router and in other rooms the signal kept dropping out. Managed to get the newer (well maybe not so new) 54N type router for less than half the price Sky charges. Anyway it done the trick for me and Wifi signal hasn't dropped once.
