I have been looking, unsuccessfully for a hard-drive caddy (so I can swap external drives) for on the go saving to a HDD as well as my internal camera card on the 6d using WIFI but am not finding anything suitable.

Any ideas?

@Carlh are you trying to achieve redundancy (in effect wanting dual card slots situation) or is there another goal? I think you could technically do it to a phone / tablet with a large storage card (SD/ microSD) inside it. But and it's a big one it'd be slow over wifi so if you're thinking of relatively quick shot to shot situations then i imagine it'd be a non-starter.

Cheers. Can you hook up to the drive from the camera and save images as they're being taken? Can I change the drive inside rather than rely on it to work until it is full then have to replace the whole thing?

I use it at the end of the day to upload footage from my GoPro and dslr via the built in sd card reader. You can then view anything on the drive via wifi.
Not sure if you can swap hard drives but 2tb is big enough for me anyway.

We're you wanting to back up the sd card manually or to do it over WiFi? As I maybe wrong but I did read the 6D only transmits small size jpegs over WiFi. Sure I'll be corrected if that's not the case.

Ive not used the wifi feature for transfers so not sure if it only does JPG. Be a bummer if it did as I shoot RAW. I guess a SD slot-backup mechanism is better than nothing! Thanks everyone (y)

Just had a quick Google as was curious and think theirs some confusion in the subject as the smartphone app only transfers small resolution files but you are able to transfer full size and raw using eos utility I assume.

That WD portable drive looks great though, think I'll have to invest in one myself for easy backups of sd cards.

I can recommend it.

I bought it for a week long motorbike trip to France last year. Lots of GoPro videos downloaded every night without a problem.

The battery is not that great but you can charge or run it with a usb lead.
