16-35 is a good choice as a super-wide walkaround lens because the 24-35mm range is very very useful in many ordinary situations. If you're in a city then it's a lens you can leave on a lot of the time, whereas if you go 12-24mm you will likely be swapping lenses frequently because a smaller proportion of 'sensible' images will call for wider than 24mm.

Maybe one for later when I want to go ultra wideLooks a nice lens and decent price. Looked on Flickr and there's some great images
The Sigma efs lens will not be much use to you, however I'm sure you will enjoy the Canon 16-35 f4.
