Wide angle lenses

I'm a noobie, and don't really have a clue as to what i'm looking for

I'm planning on doing a lot of car photography, so i need something with a wide angle lens. Also, my picture style is going to be quite colourful if that makes a difference?

I've got a budget of about £300

Could someone give me an idea of what i could look at for my Canon 450D?

Sigma 10-24 I believe it is, or 10-22 not sure which it is?

But around that sort of price there quite a lot of options. I can't use them on my 5D as they are EF-S lenses but some of the focal lengths may be a mm out or so, but you have;

Tokina 10-16 or 11-17 (something like that)
Canon 10-22
Sigma 10-24

Just had a look on eBay and there are so many different types!!!!
 
The most commonly used ones are the:

Sigma 10-20
Canon 10-22
Tokina 11-16 f/2.8
Tokina 12-24 f/4

There are plenty others though! For £300 I think the Sigma 10-20 will just fit into your budget second hand, the others are a bit more though. There are cheaper options from Tamron too, like the 10-24 and the 11-18 (which I have), which are reputed to be a little worse, but I've never had issues with mine!

Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6mm is the lens for you at that price range, you can pic up a good deal on here, I got mine for £270 boxed. Now remember its an Ultra Wide Angle so below 14-15mm you will get a little distorsion, easily corrected.
 
:agree: if you have a crop sensor body. I had one on a 50D and it was great!
 
As Jamie said, the Sigma 10-20 is an EF-S lens so will only work on certain camera bodies - those with an APS-C sensor.

Your Canon 450D has an APS-C sensor so the lens will work for you.
