Wide angle lens help! Fuji x mount 14mm, 16mm or the Samyang 12mm??

Hi guys

I'm finding it hard to decide between the fuji 14mm, 16mm or the 12mm Samyang/Rokinon.

Primary use will be for landscape stuff but will also use for day to day from time to time. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with any of the above?

Not now a Fuji user but in the past had the Fuji 14mm and loved it. A fantastic lens, ideal for landscapes and hard to find fault with.
 
Thanks. How did you find the corner sharpness on the 14mm? I've heard mixed reviews.
 
I use the Fuji 10-24 and can't say I've noticed any softness in the corners. Having said that, I usually print up to A3+ so lose the corners in the crop from 3:2 to 19:13.
 
Only ever used the 14mm for landscapes so maybe F8, F11 etc and no problem with corners.
 
The 10-24 is another option albeit an expensive one! I do prefer shooting primes though. How is the sharpness on the Samyang Ruffmeister? It is such good value and a little wider than the fuji offerings that I'm really tempted!

I find it really good. I don't shoot enough wide stuff to warrant the 10-24, neither do I tend to get on with zooms that well anyway so as a prime it was great option. It's not that badly built either for the money.

There is some images on here as well. Haven't really found softness an issue on my copy however I'm not one to pixel peep. Remember that the Samyang is manual focus although I've never found this a problem. If you look on eBay they can be had for just over £200.
 
Thanks it looks good. Not overly concerned about the manual focus as it will mainly be landscape stuff and at such a wide angle and a lower f stop is it safe to assume that most things are in focus unless your real close?

You could easily work on the f8 and be there approach with the 12mm
The focus peaking is always handy on the Fujis anyway for MF :)

The size and the cost are really tempting. I think I've ruled out the 16mm now in favour of either the 12 or the 14. I'm so indecisive grrrr

I did own the 14mm for a while but ended up selling it (foolishly) to get some money for something else. It's a very nice lens optically.

The 14mm isn't much cheaper than the 10-24 is it? Digital Rev may be worth a look.

No I guess it is not. I've always preferred primes though so I never really consider zooms. Somewhat foolish I guess...

Not at all. I struggle a bit with zooms - I don't know why. There are some nice zooms for the X but I've resisted the urge to get another as I know that I'll end up sticking the the primes I have got.
 
I have the 14 and I absolutely love it. I shoot landscapes between f8 and f11 and its sharp across the frame. I will however look at picking up a Samyang 12 come the summer for Aurora shooting.
