im looking in to getting a new lens for my birthday and i have narowed it down to a few choices. Which one would you reccomend and if any one has any shots from them it would be greatly appreciated here are my choices

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 USM
Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM
Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM
Tamron 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 Di II LD

thanks in advance

I was recently in the same boat and opted for the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6, apparently a lot better than the 3.5 version of the lens.

I have yet to really use the lens in anger although with a full set of grads and nd's on the way, a new tripod & head and a week off in November (please hope for some decent weather) that will soon change.

Best so far...

.
well KR says the Canon wins hands down - "tongue-in-cheek-smiley"
I'd buy the Canon 10 - 22 mm lens in an instant if I had a Canon digital camera. The Canon 10 - 22 mm is better than any of these four lenses, including the Nikon.

I was looking around at similar lenses 6 months back and I went for the Tokina 11-16mm

Fantastic lens - ultra sharp and has been on my camera far more than my normal 17-85 walk around lens

Tokina 12-24............"link"

.....£363.............

That looks horrendously soft to me - is there a lot of compression on that image?

What about the Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG ASPHERICAL HSM? If you upgrade to full-frame then you can still use it (although it will be uber-wide angle! lol)

Canon 10-22mm would be my choice, owned a decent sample of the Sigma 10-20mm in the past so I have been able to compare

I would recommend the canon 10-22. I know its out of your price range but might be something to save for.

I had this lens before moving to FF and dont ask me why but i felt more comfortable using that lens than the 17-40mm that repalced it. the 10-22mm never left my 50D but the 17-40mm is hardly on my 5DII

I currently own a canon 10-22 but had a sigma 10-20 for about a week, both great lenses.

Comparing images from both lenses closesly i would advise saving money and getting the sigma as i don't see a noticable difference.
I dont think the canon (although a good lens) is worth the extra money over the sigma.

I sold my Canon 10-22mm in favour of the Tokina 12-24mm which in my experience is sharper and better built.

I have a Sigma 10-20mm and have found it to be a great lens.

A selection of shots taken with a Sigma 10-20 4-5.6.I cannot praise it enough. It is certainly the best sub £400 pound lens that I have bought.
Worth every penny.

Thanks for the help guys I narrowed it down to the sigma and the tokina 12-24 and I think I'm going to go for the tokina after doing some research online about the 2 also would in real terms would I notice 2mm of difference on a crop sensor
