Hey all

i need to take some nice shots of my work for my website etc, im a wall/floor tiler so mostly kitchens and bathrooms and also some large marble floors..

i would like a 10-20 or similar but not sure i want to lay out that much so any cheaper choices, was thinking along the lines of a 24mm prime or 18-70 maybe?

currently have a 50mm 1.8 but its to long for these shots, cameras a D200.

need to get one sorted asap

cheers

You can spend £60 on PTGui and then just use your existing lens to stitch two or more images together flawlessly to get a wide view.

Ideally you would like to use 14-16mm (full frame). I use my Nikon 14-24 2.8 for my work with Estate Agents and there is no better lens on the planet for that job (in my view). So the closer you can get to 14 or 16 the better. That will let you get the facing corners of most rooms in shot. Normally f5 - f8. Watch the distortion of lower quality lenses though.

Some situations I would bracket a few shots together just to be sure of the right exposure so I'm not wasting too much time on the job and I can quickly select the best shot afterwards. Hope that helps a bit.

Hi Harry

I've the 10-20mm Sigma and it's great, if you have a look at the flickr site below these were taken with it

thanks for the reply, im leaning towards a siggy 10-20 as would do the job for work shots and i like nice angled car shots so would kill 2 birds with 1 stone i think..

other lens is the tamron 10-24 which has some reports saying its sharper than the sigma but my gut feeling says go with sigma build quality..

Tokina 12-24 - sharper than the Sigma and just a better all-round buy. Other than that, one of the Nikons, preferably the 12-24 f/4 Nikon.... awesome lens.

good pics Andy, the kitchen ones are the sort of scale im after taking

Thanks Harry

These were shot with my 40D, Sigma 10-20mm on a tripod using the natural light available and a remote switch

emm theres a used Tokina on ebay for £299 could be an option then or MPB have a Sigma for £300 with warranty, think a Nikon will be out of my price range as about £300 would be my max seeing as in the last 3 weeks ive bought the D200 and the nifty fifty hehe
