Hi all

I currently have a Canon 5D mark II and have a managed to save up and buy a fairly good arsenal of lenses so far. However I want to branch out into doing a little bit of landscape photography and decided to look into purchasing a wide angle lens.

I am a little confused as to which one to go for and I would like to use the lee filter system with it in time.

My lenses that I currently have are the 24-70, 70-200, 50mm 1.4 and the 100mm macro.

Any advice or suggestions gratefully received!!

Thanks in advance.

BB :)

I guess my budget is around the £1000ish mark. I would want new - sorry gotta have it fresh in my hands - lol!

Hi BB,

Welcome to the forum... If you've got a grand to spend then the obvious choice would the EF16-35mm f2.8 L but if you want to save yourself some money, I'd go for the EF17-40mm f4 L instead. :)

Cheers,
Si

I would go with the F 16-35mm f2.8L USM mkII with that budget. I am sure that Kerso can get it for you for a bit more than £1000.

Oooh ok - thanks will look into that :)

Hi Si and thanks :)

Ok will go and do a bit of reading on both these lenses.

Thanks ever so much for your quick responses!

I'd get the 17-40L and then send me the change. The 17-40 is a cracking lens and for Landscapes you don't particularly need 2.8.

Use some of the change to get a decent tripod and a wireless remote to go with it.

Well thats what I did anyway :D
