wicker_man's 365 Project for 2010 **Finally Up To Date!**

This evening, we went to Cardiff with the photo society. We got an 8:30pm train, and it was a 3.5 hour journey there! This Rubik's cube belongs to my friend Adam, he also has a 5x5 one!

I took this photo in Pizza Hut, where we went for lunch with the Photo Society in Cardiff.

good stuff.. only been to cardiff once, its a nice place.. liking the angles on your shots

Thanks for the comments. I just realised I put the wrong photo for day 66! It's corrected now, and I will shortly be uploading photos from shooting Skindred on Tuesday and getting my 365 up to date.

Great work, glad to see youre still hard at it - honestly dont know how you manage it, Im struggling to get one completed shot a week at the mo :-S

Today, I went to London with a friend for Paganfest (a folk metal gig featuring Finntroll, Eluveitie, Dornenreich, Varg and Arkona.) This was taken whilst we were in a pub waiting for doors to open.

I have a few photos from the gig (taken with my Panasonic LX1 compact camera):

Thanks, yep I still haven't lost any enthusiasm! As I carry a camera around with me wherever I go, it is great for catching photos and things you see whilst going about everyday life. I also have many photo ideas in my mind which I could use for days when I don't see anything out and about.

Today we went house hunting for the next academic year. We saw some properties, only one of them was nice but it was a good 45 minute walk to uni buildings. During the viewings, we went past Kassassin street, which I thought was an interesting name for a road!

After lectures this morning we continued house hunting. It went slightly better today, we saw two houses which were quite nice (although not as nice as yesterdays) and a bit closer to uni. Unfortunately many of the ones we wanted to see were not for students or they couldn't hold the let until September.

This evening I decided to do some proper cooking. I made some barbecue flavoured pork steaks with carrots, parsnips and potatoes, and then finished my meal with a Gü Hot Chocolate Soufflé, which was very nice.

This evening, we went to the Student Union bar for a drink and to take some photos of the Societies Friday Night Live event. Today there was some people DJ-ing and breakdancing.

A development on Middle Street in Portsmouth, behind the Trafalgar hall. They started construction when I was living in halls over 2 years ago, but doesn't look like they've made that much progress! I tried HDR processing this a bit because it was a bit of a dull day and the photo was looking a bit flat, but didn't want to go too over the top with processing.

Today was a bit of a lazy day. I got up at 1pm, and didn't really do much! I cooked some Kung Pao Chicken for dinner today. It tasted very good!

This morning was spent calling letting agents and trying to arrange viewings for possible houses for the next academic year. I received a call saying my Marantz AV receiver was unrepairable, so I will get a refund. It was a great AVR (which I got for a bargain price) but it's a shame it only lasted 5 months. Ah well, my new Yamaha RX-V1400 arrived today. It's nice to have decent sound now!

Today's photo is a first attempt at a self portrait. It is very difficult to take a self portrait, especially an interesting and creative one. I used the EOS utility tethering mode on my computer, with my 40D connected via USB to get a live view display on my monitor (which helped with composition.)

you've been busy.. loving the food shots, that choc dessert looks lush, keep eyeing them in tesco :)

like the vans shot too and a great SP, very different!

Today was a Student Associate Scheme placement day, which means getting up at 6AM- not fun!

Thanks, I've just noticed that quite a few of my recent photos have been food related! The Gü puddings are very nice, but I only get them when they are on special offer (half price in Co-op recently!)

Happy St. Patrick's Day! What better way to celebrate than to enjoy a nice Guinness?

dont see 6am often, thank god :-)

the guinness cans are fab.. love the bokeh!

After lectures this morning, we continued house hunting. On the way, we saw this trolley by the side of the road with an assortment of traffic cones and bollards in it.

Nice colours and focus on that last one. Really makes the can that's sharp stand out

Thanks for the comments. I feel I could have maybe done the Guinness one a bit better if I took some more time experimenting with flash positioning (I used it off camera with a wireless trigger) but it would help if I had a decent tripod which could hold my camera steady, and a battery for my wireless remote! But I think it turned out pretty good anyway!

I am not a morning person, getting up at 6am requires a very big effort and about three alarms (I need to set the alarm on my phone and leave it on my desk so it forces me to get out of bed!)

Nice shot today... and I'm really diggin the guiness shot! Happy belated paddys day!

This evening, I was photographing a friend's band, Polarity, who were playing at the Nell Gwynne pub. Whilst getting some close ups of the drummer, I saw the way the light was reflecting off the cymbals and thought it looked pretty cool.

asda price!.. great spot ;)

Today was started with a nice fry up for breakfast. I then went to the 'School of Rock' jam session and did some drumming (and tried to play a bit of bass guitar!)

Then when I got home, I watched Planet 51 with a friend, Tess, and then Jamie came round and we watched The Story Of Anvil and Iron Maiden Flight 666. It gave my surround system a nice work out!

Today's (rather late) photo is an extension tube macro shot of the optical cable plugged into my Yamaha RX-V1400 surround receiver.

Today was a lazy day. I got up at 1pm and didn't really do much today! This is one of the records I got recently, Metal For Muthas Volume II.

I don't have to go in to lectures until 3pm on Mondays, so I decided to make some home made chips this afternoon for lunch. They turned out quite well! In the evening, I went to the Fleet pub for the School of Rock open mic night, where I did a bit of drumming. The photo is of an ice cube next to a glass of beer, and a light shining through the beer to give it the coloured tint.

Today was my first free day in quite a while! I didn't have anything to do, so I decided to venture to Sainsbury's to do some shopping (and scout for things on offer!)

WALL-E wanted to be in a photo today, so he helped me empty my memory cards!

some great shots.. I love the green ice one, the light is wonderful.. and you can never go wrong with wall-e in a photo ;)

This is my Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 compact camera. I got it in June 2006, and it allowed me to experiment more with photography with it's manual controls, and helped me discover my passion for photography. I used it until I got my first D-SLR in November 2008.

Nowadays, it is my everyday carry around camera, which lives in my jacket pocket. It is an excellent quality camera, and although it does have some limitations, I shoot in RAW with it. This allows me to post process images with greater control and gives excellent results. The only compact camera I would choose to replace it is the LX3 (if I could afford it!)

Thanks, the ice cube one was lit by the light on a friend's phone. And WALL-E will definitely be featuring in more shots!

that looks a pretty cool camera, I had a lumix TZ5 but got rid of it as preferred my nikon coolpix, couldn't shoot manual on the lumix so that made the difference, they do give great results though

Today was the results of the UPSU (University of Portsmouth Student's Union) Elections 2010. We were there watching and taking photos, and the PureFM (student radio station) were broadcasting the results. This is their mixing desk.

(I would have uploaded this last night, but our internet was down.)

This is Señor Fajita, a ukulele belonging to my friend and housemate, Dan.

I decided to use my 50mm f1.8 prime for today's shot because I haven't used it for a while!

I had some fried eggs for breakfast today (although technically it was lunch time!)

My Dad came down to Portsmouth today, we went to the pub this evening and then to Wagamama's for food.

Today, my Dad took me to Southampton to go to some shops, get a refund on my broken AV receiver and take my MacBook Pro to the Apple store to exchange the battery. This photo was taken whilst we were having (a late) lunch at a pub, just after it started pouring down with rain!

This evening, we went to see Airbourne at the Portsmouth Guildhall. For anybody not familiar with them, they are an awesome hard rock band from Australia, and sound similar AC/DC.

Tomorrow we will be going to Jersey for a few days (Easter holidays) so I won't be uploading any photos for a short while.

love the tache on the ukelele :)

those eggs look perfect, mine never turn out like that!

Today, me and my Dad flew to Jersey for a short Easter break. This is on board the Boeing 737, it was a rather short flight, before we finished our complimentary coffee and cookie, the plane started it's descent to land! We arrived in the late afternoon, unpacked and had a short rest before going for dinner.

Thanks for the comments! The eggs weren't actually quite done when I took the photo, I usually finish them off under a grill for a few seconds just to make sure they are fully cooked.

Anyway quite a bit of catching up to do now!

Today, we decided to go to the seafront and see the Elizabeth castle, but it was far too cold and windy, so we decided to skip that idea! We walked around a bit and then went to a pub for a drink (and to avoid the rain!) We went to a Thai restaurant for dinner in the evening, and on the way back to the hotel we saw this obelisk in the memory of Peter Le Sueur, a Constable who built the sewer system in St Helier in the 1840s.
