wicker_man's 365 Project for 2010 **Finally Up To Date!**

As I didn't get to bed until quite late last night, I slept until 2pm today! I had a fry-up for breakfast (OK, technically it was past lunch time but ah well!) and then started sorting out things for a photo society committee meeting next week.

I later popped out to Co-op with Dan to pick up some bits, and decided to take my camera with 50mm f1.8 prime lens to try and get a photo for today. This was a of a row of Cravendale milk taken in the dairy section of Co-Op.

In the evening, Jamie came round to watch the Eurovision song contest with me, Dan and Adam. I enjoy watching it just for fun and seeing cheesy/interesting songs (and maybe the odd good one!) My favourite song was the Romanian entry 'Playing with Fire' (it's very catchy!) which came third, but the winning entry from Germany was good too. After that, we watched some Flight Of The Conchords episodes on DVD.

I got up at 8am this morning (yep, crazy time to get up on a Sunday!) and first went to the Fratton Park car boot sale. There wasn't anything good there, so I went to the Southsea Common car boot sale instead. It was much bigger and better, and I found a couple of 45's (Pink Floyd's The Wall pt. 2 amd Judas Priest's Breaking The Law singles and Motörhead's Train Kept A-Rollin' on flexible record.)

After that, I went to Tesco to pick up a few bits and then went home for some lunch. I then worked on plans for a Photo Society committee meeting, and watched some programmes on iPlayer before dinner (oven fish, chips and peas).

In the evening, we watched some more episodes of Flight of The Conchords, and then played some Guitar Hero.

Today's photo is of Ravelin House, which is one of the university buildings. I took this as I passed Ravelin Park, on the way from the Southsea car boot sale to Tesco.

Today was another sleep until 2pm day! After a fried egg and toast for breakfast (no full fry up today!) I popped to Tesco with Dan to get some supplies for a BBQ with housemates from last year. It was good catching up with them, but they will all be graduating this summer.

We got back quite late, so today's photo is not really that creative, just a macro of the camera on my old Sony Ericsson W900i mobile phone.

Today was spent sorting out stuff for the Student Activity Awards Dinner photography. We sorted out pricing schemes for selling photos, a backdrop for the studio style shots, posters and promotional material and other details.

In the evening, I planned the agenda for the Photo society committee meeting tomorrow.

Today's photo is of the walkway of the Student Union. Unfortunately it was a bit of a dull/rainy day today so it didn't come out as well as I hoped.

This morning was spent finalising plans for the Photo society committee meeting in the evening. I then went to the Student Union to sort out more details on the Awards Dinner tomorrow, and then met a friend to help her with buying a DSLR camera. After that was the committee meeting, where we discussed many things on how the society would run and things we plan to do for next year.

The meeting went on for about 2 hours, so we didn't get back home until past 9! After dinner, I sorted out flyers, photo order forms and a few other bits for the photography at the dinner tomorrow.

Today's photo was a bit of a random one taken in Commercial Road (the high street in Portsmouth) of a tree.

great shots as always, crisp and nicely composed.. sounds like you've been busy lately!

In the morning, we went to see some self storage places to try and get a good deal to store out stuff over summer.

After that, I went home to prepare my camera stuff and get ready to go to the dinner. It was fun wearing a suit and carrying a heavy camera backpack (fully loaded with lenses, my laptop and accessories) and walking to the venue in the baking sun.

We set up the studio lights and backdrop, and I prepared my camera for tethered shooting to my laptop to check it was all working smoothly. As people came in, we took a few portraits/group shots of people, before the dinner was served. Today's photo was taken of some balloons which had floated to the ceiling, whilst waiting for dessert.

After dinner was the awards presentation, and I received the Silver award for contribution to the union media.

After the awards, people were queuing up for the group photos right until the end, and we sold over 60 photos! It was quite exhausting but good fun.

We didn't get back home until after midnight, but we had to make a start on editing photos and emailing them off to people who purchased them. I didn't get to bed until 5am that night (or morning!)

Thanks, yep I'd been so busy that I had a bit of a backlog! Anyway I am now up to date!

I woke up about midday and went to get the first batch of prints done. After that, I spent the rest of the day editing photos from the dinner and emailing them off to people who purchased them.

Today's photo is a macro of the Command key on my MacBook Pro.

I made a start with packing this morning, which was a task that I should have started a few days ago (but just hadn't had a chance!)

My Dad arrived in the afternoon, and we finished off packing for items which will be going into storage. We also did some cleaning of our flat. Once Adam's dad arrived, we packed up the cars and took our stuff to the self storage place. It took a couple of trips, and it was a bit of a mission getting our 32" CRT TV (which weighs about 65kg) up the stairs of our flat, but we got it all done. I then finished off editing the last of the photos from the awards dinner, and emailed them off.

In the evening, we went to Nandos for dinner. Today's photo was taken in the Gunwharf Quays car park.

When we got back home, I continued with a bit more packing before going to bed.

In the morning, we had breakfast at Wetherspoons and then got the second batch of prints done.

We then got back home and finished packing and took some more items to put into storage. We then attempted to load the car, but then realised everything would not fit, so it involved another trip to the storage place.

After that, we finally managed to cram everything into the car (which involved strategically putting bits of food in every space between boxes we could find!) I then cleaned the fridge and kitchen worktops, and did a final check of the place before leaving about 3:30pm.

We dropped the keys off to the agents, and had some KFC before setting off home. Today's photo is of the Sails of the South, on the M275 out of Portsmouth.

I woke up just a bit after midday today, it was good to catch up on some sleep!

After breakfast, I sorted out the prints from the awards dinner and then went to the post office to send them off to people who had ordered.

After that, I unpacked some of my stuff and set up my computer and hi-fi system in my room.

Today's photo is of my Volkswagen camper van and Beetle scale models. I hope to own a '62 split screen camper and '67 Beetle one day.

Today was spent mainly doing more unpacking and sorting of stuff.

Today's photo is of some strawberries, which were cut up and served in a bowl.

Today was another day of unpacking, and a lot of time was taken sorting out paperwork and receipts.

It was raining in the afternoon, and after a while it stopped and the sun came out. I went into the garden to see if I could find something to photograph, and saw this petal with water droplets on it, and was quite pleased with the way it came out.

Today, I got my new tripod; Manfrotto 055XDB legs with a Giottos MH1301-652 Series II ball head. It is awesome and solid, and actually holds my camera steady (unlike my previous Argos £15 one!)

Also today, I updated my CV and wrote a cover letter to hand in to shops tomorrow for a summer job. I then tacked the unpacking of clothes and sorting out my wardrobe.

Today, I went into town armed with CVs and cover letters and went to shops enquiring if they have any job vacancies. Not many places were recruiting, but hopefully I will hear from at least a couple of places!

Today's photo is of The Manor House in Solihull town centre. It was built in 1495 and is currently a tea room, but in the past it has been a doctors surgery, brewery, Home Guard headquarters, community association, adult education and social centre.

I had an eye test today. It turned out that my prescription has changed and I need new glasses. I'll be choosing some frames on Thursday, it'll be good to get a different style to my current ones.

In the night, I decided to test out my tripod and do some long exposure shots in the garden. This photo is a 23 minute exposure, taken at 11:58pm, and you can see the star trails in the sky.

Today's photo is of the view from my window when I looked outside this evening.

great shots as usual.. really like the shadows and light on the balloon shot..

other stand outs are parking and the super droplets on the petal.. love the light trails too :)

Today's photo is a macro of some bubble wrap.

Thanks for the comments! I was very happy with the water drops on petal shot, it's definitely one of my favourite photos I have taken recently!

Today, I helped my Dad with clearing the garage out to paint it. I moved my drum kit temporarily in the drive, and noticed this cat seemed quite intrigued by it!

Today, I went with my Dad to the tip (or household recycling plant, to give the technically correct name!) to get rid of stuff from the garage clear out.

Today's photo is of an old Nikon Coolpix 4500 compact digital camera.

Today's photo is of my Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II prime lens. It is an awesome lens, very small, light, fast and excellent quality for £80! This was the second lens I purchased after getting my Canon 40D and 18-50mm f2.8.

Today's photo is of a pink rose. It was on the branch of a tree which overhangs a fence in our garden.

Today was Father's day. I took my Dad to the pub in the afternoon for a drink, then we had a barbecue. Today's photo is of a plate of vegetable skewers which were put on the BBQ, along with some chicken and sausages.

love mickey and wall-e :)

that lens is great.. must get myself one for my nikon.. the kebabs do look tasty!

Today's photo is of some pushpins. My original idea for today's photo didn't work (I won't say what it was because I'll attempt it again in future.) I then looked up at my cork notice board and saw these and thought they'd make a great photo for today!

Great Shots! I especially like the Bubble Wrap!

Those kebabs look yummie! Love the colours!

Thanks for the comments!

Bear in mind that the Nikon 50mm f1.8 only autofocuses on cameras with built in focus motors (D80/D90 or above.) A couple of my friends have been caught out with this and thought the lens was broken when attached to D40/D60 models! You will need an AF-S lens to autofocus, the closest alternatives are the 35mm f1.8 (£160) or 50mm f1.4 (£290).

Here, we see the extremely rare Beercan Bird. It was spotted this afternoon in the courtyard of the Solihull Central Library. You can see it's feathers made up of various beer cans, and the distinctive top hat and monocle that they like to wear.

144, 148, 154 and 170 are the recent stand outs for me :) good work!
Thanks for the comments! I really need to get out and about more now I'm at home, otherwise I'll run out of ideas if I just shoot things around the house! I decided to take my camera when I went into town today, and will try to take it whenever I go somewhere!

Today, I met up with my friend Martin. It was good to catch up over a few pints!

Today's photo was taken whilst upstairs in the Assembly Rooms pub in Solihull town centre. The football crowds had just left, and there was sunlight pouring in through the windows. I'm not usually a fan of black and white photography, but sometimes it does work well and I felt it was necessary for today's.

The new Flickr layout now allows a 640 pixel wide medium size option (up from 500 pixels) so I can post my photos a little larger in this thread now! You can also click through to see it large on black for all photos too :)

Today's photo is of a rooster keying, from when we went on holiday to Portugal a couple of years back. It reminds me of the logo of Nando's (which is one of my favourite restaurants!)

Today's photo is of the sun hiding behind the clouds earlier this evening.

Today, I was listening to some of my Dad's rock/metal record collection, and came across this printed on one of the record sleeves.

I also downloaded the Aperture 3 demo and decided to try using it for processing this photo. It seems pretty funky, but being used to Photoshop for all these years, I need to try it more and get used to the interface.

Some great images there yet again ;)
really liked the veggie skewers, great colour and your latest the home taping, nice PP.
Piracy is it really killing anything or is the greed of major companies?! Nah lets not start that debate, lol.

Today, I decided to clean my keyboard. It's amazing how quickly they gather with dirt and dust, and it shows up on a white keyboard! I took all of the keys off and soaked them, and cleaned underneath them with a brush. The keys are currently drying, so today's photo is of the keyless keyboard!

I am temporarily using a Logitech keyboard, but it's taking a while to get used to it, especially as it's designed for Windows. I keep hitting the Alt key instead of Command (which is the Start/Windows key) and it's getting very annoying!

Also, my flashgun decides to start playing up today. It's a cheap Jessops 360AFD which I got about 6 months ago, so I'll take it in later this week and see what they say.

Thanks for your comments! Well, seeing as the record that was from 1982 (One Vice At A Time, by Krokus) I'm sure music has been alive for the past 28 years!

Today's photo is of some cherries (or to give the proper botanic name, Prunus avium).

Today, I went to Birmingham city centre for some job hunting.

Today's photo is of the bronze sculpture of a turning bull, at the west building entrance to the Bullring shopping centre.

Love the keyless keyboard! Great shot!

Roo
Thanks! The keyboard is nice and clean, and all working fine now :D
